Not necessarily gluten free( I'm not up on all that). What I have read says some alternatives are healthier. I do know that the alternatives I've tried are less stodgy/ heavy than a loaf. Or with crumpets it's mostly holes ( i.e. zero calories )

Tonight- piece of pork, a spicey vegetable 'thing' and mix of mushrooms, tomato, onion, rice and what not.

We like pitta bread filleted with anything you like. And panini, only a recent try, lovely with tomato sausage and mushrooms.
