It's not that Sakamoto sells. As MV posted on the 4th (relevant excerpt):
Wuthering Heights has proven a big hit and is close to selling out due to the Japanese market. It took us by surprise to be honest. Its not like it was 10 or 15 years ago where you could release 1000 units or 1500 units of something and have it sell out within days. Wuthering is on its way to being the fastest sellout we have had in years! I think we have fewer than 100 units left and that wasn't a Williams or Goldsmith...a Star Trek or comic book score.
Hi there. Just ordered. Wasn't a high priority due to all of the fantastic releases lately, however; I don't want to miss out. Thanks for the heads up MV!
I’m so glad I caught this low quantity alert on the other thread and thanks for posting it again here for those who might have missed it! This was one of those cases where I somehow completely missed this score had even been released by Lalaland! I think it’s because the original announcement was paired with The Munsters which was so Munster-centric that I somehow missed it was buried in that.
Anyway, for anyone who is a fan Ryuichi Sakamoto, don’t even think twice, it’s one of his best scores! Such an amazing composer and, already, so dearly missed.
The Japanese soundtrack collecting market is pretty big, and anything Sakamoto is always a big seller there. Between that and his passing, I'm not at all surprised this sold well. I'm thrilled that LLL released such a fast selling title.
