Maestro Williams’ sensational and powerful orchestral score thrills and awes, ranking as one of the composer’s most celebrated and unique works.
Produced, edited and mastered by Mike Matessino, the 96k/24 bit master files utilized in our previous 2016 collection have been newly output and remastered, including minor sonic improvements throughout. Newly added to this 2-CD expanded reissue are never before released takes of “On The Glass,” “Rescuing Sarah” and “The Raptors Appear,” all featuring alternate instrumentation, plus the unique film version of “Ripples” The 28-page CD booklet features liner notes by Matessino (adapted from our 2016 collection) and the new art design is by Jim Titus. La-La Land Records and MGM proudly present GORKY PARK: 40th ANNIVERSARY EDITION, a limited edition 2-CD remastered presentation of renowned composer James Horner’s (GLORY, FIELD OF DREAMS, CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER) original motion picture score to the 1983 big-screen Soviet-era drama GORKY PARK, starring William Hurt, Lee Marvin and Brian Dennehy, and directed by Michael Apted. A notable work in James Horner’s canon, GORKY PARK showcases the composer’s remarkable and varied talents as he creates a fully immersive, multi-layered sound world – blending classical music, 80’s pop-percussion, orchestra and electronics in a compelling fashion that invites the audience into the film, changing them from spectator to active participant.
Produced by Neil S. Bulk, and mixed in high-resolution and mastered by Chris Malone, Disc One of this deluxe 2-CD re-issue features the film score without the Tchaikovsky overlays and inserts, while the “film versions” with those Tchaikovsky pieces are presented in the disc’s “Additional Cues” section. Disc Two of the set opens with the original 1983 digital album master, followed by the same program, but from the new high-resolution mixes. The sharp art design is by Jim Titus and the exclusive, in-depth liner notes are by writer Deniz Cordell. This is a limited edition release of 1500 units.

Oh these two were instant purchases, even though I too am dipping and dipping again.
I'll just go ahead and say it - The Lost World is my favorite 90's John Williams score.
And Gorky Park one of my favorite Horners, and one of my favorite 80's thriller scores - and there's a lotta competition!
