La-La Land Records and Paramount Pictures present the 2 CD release of renowned composer Lorne Balfe’s (MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT, DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: HONOR AMONG THEVES) original motion picture score to the big-screen blockbuster MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – DEAD RECKONING PART ONE, starring Tom Cruise, Haley Atwell, Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg and directed by Christopher McQuarrie. The release includes a bonus track of the "Teaser Trailer" music that was released digitally by Paramount Music last summer. Here are some highlights on what the media is saying about the score:

“Much of the propulsion is also due to Lorne Balfe’s pounding score” - Hollywood Reporter
“Emotional clarity is always ensured (not to mention enhanced, by Lorne Balfe’s pulsating score.” - IGN
“A sweeping score” - Collider
“Mammoth Soundtrack.” - Comic Book Resources

Of the score, Lorne Balfe comments: "It’s always exciting and thrilling to score a film which such a legacy as Mission Impossible. I first began writing for this project over 3 years ago and the goal was to create an adrenaline fueled, emotional and exhilarating score to match the pulse pounding intensity of the film. For this score, we were able to record in cities which form the locations of the filming, bringing a different level of authenticity and emotional connection to the music. We recorded Choirs in Venice, The Swiss Drums Corps in Switzerland, Orchestra’s in Venice, Vienna and London along with an epic bongo session made up of 35 players, it sounded incredible in the room and a nice ode to Fallout. This is by far my most expansive score to date with 555 musicians playing across 5 cities. It was an honour to work with such world-class talents and an excellent team that helped cultivate a finished score that is truly special.”

Christopher McQuarrie, director, writer, producer of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – DEAD RECKONING PART ONE: "What you’re about to listen to represents three years of trial and error, bold experimentation and exhaustive attention to the smallest emotional detail. It is, quite simply, the kind of score they just don’t make anymore. And yet Lorne Balfe did."

Produced by Lorne Balfe and Cecile Tournesac, and mastered by Reuben Cohen, this exciting 2 CD release is art designed by Dan Goldwasser, with a 24-page CD booklet featuring a reversible front cover and a note from director Christopher McQuarrie.

"It is, quite simply, the kind of score they just don’t make anymore."

Sounds pretty run-of-the-mill to me, but okay, Chris.

Yeah and here I thought Rogue Nation was the kind of score they don’t make any more. Heck, the composer Joe Kraemer doesn’t get to any more specifically because of you, Chris, so thanks!

No shade at all on LLL though because they’ve continued to champion Kraemer while also understandably continuing with their fine releases of music from all incarnations of Mission: Impossible.

Agreed LLL is a great label, I buy from them all the time.

I might have missed something, so please someone enlighten me:

Why there are no less that 5 (yes, FIVE) orchestras listed on the booklet??

London - Switzerland - Italy - Vienna - Budapest

Just got this 2CD set and I love it. Thanks to LLL!

I guess the music was recorded all over the place during a lengthy post production etc.

Not surprised, then again some here call Giacchino the new John Williams.

Eh, I really enjoy Dead Reckoning's score and feel it's one of Balfe's best efforts I've heard. That may be a low bar, all things considered, but I tend to enjoy a wide swath of scoring styles.

I love Kraemer's score also, as well as Giacchino's. But this one really hits me just right. Music is an emotional thing for me, either it resonates or it doesn't. I can list a dozen Williams scores I'll put way down my playlist before this one.

There were quite a few additional composers listed in the end credits. Do we know who composed what?
