I haven't listened to this one in many years and on a whim decided to play my CD of it. Not bad.

Three cuts from the LP reached No. 1 on the Billboard Disco Top 100 Chart on August 30th, 1980: Fame/Red Light/Hot Lunch Jam. I remember "Red Light". I used to play that a lot in the car years ago.

The CD includes bonus tracks including an instrumental version of "Fame."

Here's a performance by Linda Clifford of "Red Light":

I enjoy the soundtrack and the film. Bought the original LP when the movie first came out.

Pretty much love all the songs. "Dogs in the Yard" and "I Sing the Body Electric" are quite beautiful. The movie won Best Original Score for Michael Gore and I think they considered this soundtrack the score.

Great Finale for the movie. A fond time to remember when life and movies were good.

Yeah, I jammed to this on my boombox back in the days. What ever happened to Irene Cara? Damn she had an amazing voice. She seemed to fizzle out in the 80's.

Yes, she was quite beautiful and talented. I remember buying her First Solo Album WHAT A FEELING! Her big hit from FLASHDANCE. So many young talented actors and performers like her in the movie. Think about where they are now. Barry Miller went on to star as John Travolta's buddy who tragically fell off the bridge in SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, but seemed to disappear into oblivion soon after that. Maureen Teefy was in SUPERGIRL and GREASE 2 and then also fell off the radar.

Barry Miller did SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER 3 years before FAME. FAME wasn't his first role by far.

There were some other actors in the film who went onto other things. For instance, fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi can be seen at the beginning of the film. Paul McCrane became a regular on ER. Meg Tilly was one of the dancers and she was very big in the 1980s. Boyd Gaines has a very successful stage career and was nominated several times for Tony awards.

I rewatched this film in the last year or so and felt it totally didn't hold up. It sort of jumps all over the place story wise. Apparently Parker shot a lot of stuff and assembled it in his own way.

Gore winning for "Best Score" was a bit ridiculous in my mind but that ground has been covered extensively in the last 42 years.

Thanks James for correcting my info on Barry Miller. Don't know why I thought FEVER was after FAME. I do recall working as an extra on a movie he did about the The Trial of the Chicago 8. Sat across from him at lunch and I told him I enjoyed him in FAME and FEVER. He was very nice and appreciative I remember.
