David Hurwitz's typically ebullient take on recordings of the Janácek begins with a nice shout-out to the Waxman version. He seemed unaware of the essential modern recording on Tadlow.

One of the all time greatest scores ever...and for me along with SUNSET BOULEVARD and PRINCE VALIANT Waxmann´s masterpiece!!!
The TADLOW recording is excellent.

He mentions Tadlow's effort (but not by name, though, and then just as a brief -- incorrect -- subtitle during the 5th minutes of the presentation).

Hurwitz IS very enthusiastic about Waxman's score, especially Ride to Dubno. Rightly so.

He seemed unaware of the essential modern recording on Tadlow.

Actually, he does acknowledge a new re-recording, and a subtitle appears at 5:15 confirms this.

Incidentally, the "u" in "Bulba" and "Dubno" and "Yul Brynner" should not be pronounced "uh" as in "dumb."

The proper pronounciation is "Boolba" and "Doobno and "Yool."
