«I am thrilled and beyond excited to announce that I have the honour to work with the legendary and incredible Hans Zimmer, along with co-composer Steve Mazarro! They will be composing the score for ARMY OF THIEVES, the Zack Snyder-produced ARMY OF THE DEAD prequel, from director and star: Matthias Schweighöfer, that’s me Coming to Netflix this fall.»
FilmMusicReporter.com reported the assignment back in near mid August. I thought we had a thread already, but I am having trouble finding it short of going back to pages from August (no thank you!).

The search engine here is useless. I always use Google. Just type the word/words you want, then add filmscoremonthly as one word after it, that'll make it look primarily at this domain. Always works for me.
I can't wait to hear this soundtrack. He's extremely busy, but still is able to put great music. I can't wait for Dune to come out. I know the soundtrack is out, but I want to see the movie first. Same thing with this film

You're in the thread that was started in mid August. Look at the date on the first post.
Soundtrack out this Friday (digitally)! Cant wait! It sounds awesome in the movie!

Never even heard of this movie and I was watching something on Netflix yesterday. Their algorithm is truly odd.
I watched the trailer. Netflix must've known that I was not interested in this. A sequel/prequel to a movie I forgot existed; and said forgotten movie which came out earlier this year? Netflix really can churn some shit out. I'll listen to the score because I like Zimmer and Mazzaro.
Parts of the score is really nice and charming in a "DesplatKinda Wes Anderson "way...when it comes to action..well...than the score grows generic and soulless. The movie ,even if it´s a bit better ,it still sucks just like ARMY OF THE DEAD.It´s a clichee driven movie...and everything you expect to happen ..happens..every storytelling trick you already know is being used. The characters ..not as testosterone driven and dumb like the ones from the first one....still...again generic and uninspired. I dont know....gnaaaaahhhh
Following on from Dune and No Time To Die I 'm interested to see what Mazzaro and Zimmer produce for this one. Have only listened to the samples but there appears to be some good stuff here. If I purchase, I will have to eliminate 4 or 5 tracks that are over bombastic but overall it seems fine.
This is lots of fun. A mish-mash of SHERLOCK HOLMES, TOYS, MATCHSTICK MEN, Mazzaro's CHAPPIE stuff and everything inbetween. Throw in some yodeling too. A fresh and "open" score after the darker and more complex DUNE. I quite liked the film too, although it's not on the level of ARMY OF THE DEAD.
OK, my usual question: will there be a CD release? Milan doesn't often release CDs anymore but with a name like Zimmer they have usually made an exception - so far...

Is that the level of unwatchable brain damage? I've liked some tacky, tasteless movies in my life but none of them were a chore of 2.5 hours of sitting there just to watch a simplistic story play out with cliche after cliche. Snyder can do better and most of the actors deserve a better opportunity.
