Hey,

So I’m really tempted to pull the trigger on this new Mission: Impossible TV Blu-ray boxset, but I noticed it doesn’t include any extra features that were included on the previous DVD set.

I’ve been trying to find info online, but can someone who owns the set here tell me what the extra features were on the DVD boxset?

Thanks.

My understanding is there were three different American dvd releases. The most common release are the season by season sets. I have not read that those had bonus features. They were repackaged into a generic looking red box, same 46 dvds.
The third was the complete collection which included the entire series, the 1988-89 series, and a bonus features disc. It was packaged like a big can of dynamite often referred to as the "TNT set."
Both releases included Mono and 5.1 English audio options.
You would think the complete series on blu-ray would replicate the completeness of the complete dvd set. Alas, no. It's the regular series without the other stuff, and no Mono English option.

If you're worried about the audio, try to borrow a dvd from a library and toggle between the mono and 5.1. They might not sound much different, and not be an issue.
The 1988-89 series is sold separately on dvd, so that omission is not a deal breaker. The only thing that isn't available separately is the bonus disc, but someone can make a copy for you. It's not even a full dvdr.

Thank you. The audio isn’t so much of an issue with me. I was more interested in the extras, and it sounds like they weren’t too substantial.

I’m gonna grab the Blu-ray set.

My blu-ray set is suppose to arrive next week.
5.1 does not mix down well, and like most people, I don't have 5 speakers attached to my TV, so it's always concerning when there is no original or mono audio. Hopefully it's not too fuxed up, or I'll just re-sell it. I dunno if you're seen the packaging - thin cardboard for everything. Looks like it will combust in 5 seconds.
Wish it came out earlier when we were locking down; had more time to binge watch.

Those bonus features are classified.

The packaging for the Blu-ray release looks a bit naff.

Selling my set for $60. Nothing wrong with it, just buyer's remorse. I'm probably not going to revisit the whole series.

Bit naff? Bloomin' awful! what's the idea? Trying to appeal to the movie franchise crowd? Why don't they just give it the series' own livery and colour, with the right logo etc?

I hear you Paul. Even though it's region free, it's not enough to make me invest in this release with shoddy packaging.

There's different packaging for different regions. The German set has two large plastic cases with discs overlapping inside (like the Star Trek:Next Gen blu-ray release). Same features, and might be cheaper to order in places where "naff" is a word.
