Oh right, the jazz side is the one I listen to mostly. I'd forgotten it wasn't from the film. (Although the film tracks are alright.)

Yeah, $20 for one side of an LP is kind of steep.

Lay off dem cocktails O.B.

Was someone actually complaining that his name wasn't on the cover when it is? I can't see every post because of my ignore list, but yeah, it's there just like on the original release.

Then I guess you also didn't see the comment about "true stereo," just like the "true stereo" on your release of "The Tenth Victim."

You really have to admire people who place their wares on the market, and then are too thin-skinned to read what the audience thinks of them.

You can just as easily admire people who still talk about their wares on a board that still *needs* an ignore list.

The board doesn't *need* an ignore list. Only a few small, insecure users need one. And a few proprietors of record labels are among the small and insecure.

Nope. True stereo with a nice wide spread.

Since there's no podcast to talk about this... Roger, is it fair to say that both The Collector and David & Lisa will be sounding better than they ever have before? They've both been previously released on CD but I'm guessing that, as with say Stagecoach, they were not mastered then from first-generation album tapes, as your imminent release presumably is.

Yavar

Yes, like the previous Ava and Mainstream releases, these are the first releases off the first-generation album masters in perfect sound.

Any bonus in The Collector release? long waited END TITLES

Those LP masters are all that is left in existence.

Apparently the reason that the "End Title" music never appeared on the Mainstream album is that this was the only track to feature a large string section...and Mainstream could not afford the extra money to pay for the larger orchestra used for this one cue as the rest of the score used a unusual chamber ensemble. (Or that's the way Maurice told me...) Years later when I recorded a suite from THE COLLECTOR for now deleted Jarre double CD NOTRE DAME DE PARIS, I took the opportunity to make the only recording of the End Title ......

James! Good to see you! (Been a while.) Hope you are well/better; we are all thinking good thoughts for you.

Love Notre Dame de Paris and good to have The Collector End Titles there.
(Has anyone tried just pulling the End Credits off the mixed film audio, or does it start when someone is still speaking or something?)

Yavar

What a shame that in 1965 Maurice Jarre--having composed two of the most popular scores of the decade--could not get Mainstream Records to pay for a string orchestra. Wasn't Stagecoach a re-record? At any rate, the Mainstream album of The Collector is perfect as is--and I'm glad to have the end title on the elsewhere.

He's on my ignore list too, but to be fair, the bottom lines with composer credit on THE COLLECTOR image posted here are barely legible. That's the problem with reducing vinyl art to cd size.

True, but again those images are not full scale for a CD cover.

I'm sure it's not a problem on The Beatles White Album. wink
The poster didn't mention a more general complaint, since he didn't know the name was on the cover, but many folks get reading vision issues after 50. I wouldn't know how legible the booklet cover is, but I do have problems reading booklet text. The Kronos label should include a magnifier like the old OED has.

Let me just say this: stereo David and Lisa makes this the release of the year for me - and I love the Victor Feldman jazz tracks, too. Frankly, I had album for years, stereo version, but couldn't remember if it was real or not and of course Mainstream issued it in mono on CD, so that was confusing. So, cannot wait for it to arrive and yes I already ordered and if you have a brain in your cranium, you will, too.
