Yes, I agree. I'll be interested to see how it turns out. It looks like the bleakest adaption yet. My favourite is still the Alistair Sim version of Scrooge.
That is a good Scrooge, Xebec. Here is an odd thing. The trailer I posted has Tom Hardy on the front. I didn't see him in the trailer, and he is not listed in the cast at IMBD. I don't get it.
Just saw this trailer. I like BBC productions; however, this really looks like a very dark (Very Dark) adaptation.
Well, the lighting is very dark. If it was a straight adaption, you wouldn't see houses on fire, a drowning child, or mouth sewn shut, but the rest seems accurately "dark." Since it's just a trailer, there's no way to know what original story events were altered or omitted.
What I find disturbing is kids these days have never seen an adaption, read the short story, or even heard of Dickens. Is ACC considered "religious"? Too "christmassy"? Do you have to be a Christian to get it?

He is in Peaky Blinders and the creators of that are doing this adaption, so maybe it's just a Blinders fan has used that image? Not sure.
Going by the cast this is more than doable/success it looks exciting, the BBC are very capable with time-period-dramas, I've liked my share from each decade if this keeps faith too the adaption which it is stated as then let's see where this ends in the pile of ACC, Xmas coming has raised my interests ten-fold.
