Does Disney have ownership and control over FOX soundtrack titles? We've seen a pattern from Disney of quickly pulling a title out of circulation, (Tomorrowland and John Carter) and quietly pulling older titles out of circulation (Thor). Should we be more diligent in picking up recent soundtracks from FOX films?

I don’t know. When I asked Bruce of Kritzerland about whether such titles could still be licensed in the Home Theatre Forum thread about the upcoming Criterion release of All About Eve, this was the response he gave:

We'll see how it all shakes out - we had many Fox projects to do but when Nick Redman passed and the Disney thing happened it all got put in limbo. We're hopeful that we'll be able to proceed - we just had one project with them given the go-ahead and it's a huge project for us, so I'm ever hopeful.

It’s not much, and probably doesn’t answer your question, but it at least provides some hope that Fox scores can still be released at all.

That is encouraging.
If the Kritzerland title is a new license given after the Disney takeover of Fox it would seem to imply there's a good chance that Fox titles can still be licensed and are being treated separately to Disney titles.
I know one title doesn't prove anything but it does give some hope that not all is lost.

I wonder whether the ‘huge project’ which Bruce refers to is the long awaited Fox box set? I really do hope it is.

That's the one I am hoping for also.

I too am hoping Bruce will be able to do his Fox Director Box. Finger's crossed!

Bruce’s HTF post fills me with hope for that great Fox director box set, at the very least. It’s been too long since we had an Alfred Newman premiere...

Agreed.

Interesting conversation but really doesn't address my question or concerns. I'm wondering if Disney will quickly pull scores from FOXs films as fast as it pulls its Disney, MCU and Pixar titles out of circulation.

More importantly what about recent FOX projects that after the takeover will be distributed through Disney.

Are those available to any label or just either Disney or Intrada only?

Fox Music itself is not doing any additional licensing at this point, but there are still some releases coming from deals previously in place. There will be a "pause" as one studio reviews 80 years of another's musical history and the thousands of soundtrack albums that have been done.

In that case, welcome to the club.

Wonder if Disney+ will have an exclusive music streaming option?

Not likely but it's interesting to contemplate.

I hope Disney will let other labels release Fox titles eventually. :/
