"Weather forecasting, which one wants to be as detached and impartial as medical diagnosis, is nowadays infected with the same longing for drama that shapes television and journalism in general.

Massive snowfall the last few days, and while it's milder now (1 or 2 degrees above zero) and it's melting somewhat, there will still be plenty for days and weeks. Getting very slippery, though. A bit nervous for tonight, when we're hiking up a local hill to watch the fireworks.
Sunny, and at 11.30 it's 15 degrees. Highs of 20 degrees predicted for the afternoon, while further down the road they are predicting highs of 27 degrees.
The huge amounts of snow over the last few weeks turned into ice a couple of days ago, due to temps falling to -10 at its worst. Literally turning the entire city into one giant ice rink (move about at your own risk!). Then today, it's a massive snowfall again, "hiding" the ice underneath. Even worse. I know I should own spikes to put on my shoes, but I never got around to it. Going to the grocery store today will prove a challenge.
God, I hate winter. I feel like I'm living in the middle of THE THING with these weather conditions, the isolation and a mutating virus running rampant.

But you get to romp outside with the reindeer and polo bears, right?
Freezing rain here in Houston. Everyone wondering whether we'll have a repeat of last year's Texas power debacle. Texas has the best government money can buy.
