Incidentally, as expected the italians were typically dirty. Ref was disgracefully lenient, only 5 yellows for italians and yet 21 fouls, they certainly committed more stone banker fouls than that and he waived them on. There was one bad one where they fouled sterling edge of box - he was surrounded by players and the soppy bastard played on! Seriously??? It stuffed us up, he shuda blown straight away. Eng only gave away 13 fouls, so stats back up the feeling they typically used every method to stop us playing. The 2 worst ones for me was Chiellini grabbing sako shirt wen he was clean past him and attacking the goal, and jorginho stamp on ball which then stamped on grealish's thigh. Dangerous play. Ref was scandalously weak.

Apart from the first half hour, Italy were the better team and deserved to win. During that initial 30 minutes Italy were definitely shakey and England should have tried to get another goal. Instead they played deep. Once it went to penalties, Italy had to be favourites. Donnarummer is one of the world's very best keepers and yet Southgate put on three of our youngest players, two of whom had only just come off the bench. The whole event was stained by the drunken, drug induced antics of some fans who dragged our country into the gutter. Overall a strong performance by England in the tournament but ultimately not quite good enough. Still only 16 months to World Cup 2022 in Oman...............It's coming home. Also, Wolves first preseason match on Saturday at Crewe...
