So I'm left with a feeling of dull alarm.

With me, John, it's a lingering watchfulness that triggers at certain moments:

Walking around a blind corner? Take a few extra steps wide of it, so I can see better if someone's coming.

Getting up on the sidewalk on the bicycle? Look both ways for people, and gauge if they will reach me before I can park the bike and bolt.

Going through a doorway, open or closed? Stop, and listen to see if there is anyone on the other side first. Wait for them to pass.

Buying something? Check if the clerk is wearing gloves to handle my merchandise.

Infuriating and saddening to think how those thousands of morons will now be accelerating the spread of the virus among their innocent children, parents, grandparents and any unsuspecting person in their indirect group of contacts.

The stupidity is everywhere, Graham*. Just like the virus.

Looking forward to the weekend is a very positive sign, with all those movies and CDs to explore! For some it might be a walk in the hills.

Oh, my, but yes. I found a copy of THE TWO TOWERS by the curb, and watched it. It was so, so, nice to escape to another place, to get absorbed by another world.

I was convinced as long as I have my job which is challenging and steady, I would be able to deal with the isolation of this. No, that doesn't work. I am sick of doing the same sh$% every day in spite of the change and challenge.

Ditto, Ed. For me it has been working around too few people since the change. Every so often now, I have to seek someone out and converse, to use a different part of my brain.

What's the deal with cleaning fruit with only tap water? Because there might still be chlorine in it which will kill the virus? They find the virus in waste water days later so it doesn't need a host to survive, and tap water isn't listed as a disinfectant anywhere.

I've being going to the office 5 days a week, steady. Also, I manage to meet up with friends or colleagues for lunch as often as I can. So far, I've warded off going all Omega Man... although now that I think of it...

We got our first confirmed case of Covid in my ALF and its a staff member. Thankfully my results remain negative. We now have to have full PPE gear on for our entire shift. You have no idea how restrictive and hot it is. There was just some talks about loosening up on restrictions until this happened.

Sorry to hear that, Sol. You can't be too careful with this beast. Everyone thinks the orbit of this thing is well outside of their own, which is more than loose talk. I don't think it is like the flu, which is over until it comes round again at some point far enough away into the future. Assuming it doesn't prop you up lengthways.

Only, with Covid, once you get it its like Ted Striker and his drink problem.

Thanks Grecchus! I think Ive been lucky and fortunate considering my job. I like to think taking personal responsibly in and outside of work also comes into play. Ive done all I can to avoid infection. I haven't had a hair cut in five months!

If you know it's close, protect your nose, mouth and EYES. It's simply too late if you protect your face solely with a facemask only to find out later that was not enough. You don't want to say you were at least as good as Achilles. Sorry, Sol, I really don't mean to preach.

We took a long scenic ride yesterday to pick up dinner curbside. The route we take goes past a very large lake and restaurant bar area. As we drove through, both sides of the street were lined with cars, the outdoor tables at the bars and restaurants were packed and there were lines of people at some of the places. The parking lot of the marina was packed and the band could be heard as we drove. The people I could see were mask-less.

The restaurant we ordered from is on a narrow, one way street. As we turned onto the street, we were surprised to see it dividend in two with cafe tables to the right the entire length of the street. The tables were full with about 50% wearing masks. We had the top down so we had slapped on our masks the minute we approached the people part of town. As we waited in the car for the food to be brought, a mask-less couple decided to stop 6 inches from the driver's side door and have a very "lively" conversation. They moved on when they saw my daughter's masked glare.

My husband had taken the boat out on the river in the very early hours of the morning. There is a small island on the river where boaters can stop to swim or fish. On his way back, my husband said there must have been about 50 boats and jet skis all around the it with a huge crowd on the island.

Our state has one of the lowest infection rates right now. I don't think that is going to last.

You understood what he was saying? I know it was english but...
Just volunteer for a vaccine trial and no more PPE.
I've been cutting my own hair for years so I cannot understand why folks can't at least attempt it now.

All joking aside I'm thinking of just shaving all my hair off. Its getting way to long and bushy and well it just doesn't work with a face-shield.

Why not? I wasn't joking about cutting one's own hair - just the photo was a joke.

I've been cutting my own hair for a few months now. At about every four weeks. Not doing too bad, no one noticed last week.

I’ve been cutting my own hair for the past 30 years. People may think “Looks like it” but no one has said that to my face smile

Good article about the dilemma that elderly moviegoers face in the era of Covid.

After a previous cut someone in work said it was the best one in thirty years. Doesn't say much for my (ex) barber.

Even if you make a mistake, just wear a hat for a week until it grows out.

A barber is the only retailer that should never ask you, "Want a bag with that?"

An essential worker.
Helping our most vulnerable.
Paid piddly wages. frown

(And even with hazard pay, 105% of piddly is still piddly)
