100 posts!

I still have my Navarone and its box, not to mention all of my toy soldiers.

I don't normally buy toys, I'm more into replicas (which I can't afford) but I just couldn't pass up Robby The Robot found in my local Walmart. Its pretty close to movie accurate and the lights, sounds and walking action were just to irresistible to pass up- especially at $20 dollars!

Here's a YouTube review:

I just got that for Christmas. I'm holding out for The Iron Giant WM exclusive for my birthday.

Black Hole figures! These look really good. Could be bigger but not to small either.

The V.I.N.C.E.N.T robot is quite a feat of engineering. It can be posed to match every scene in the movie. The head can close, the head can rise and show the "brains". You can use replacement parts to extend the legs, arms and laser cannons. You can have those parts in retracted position. It even includes a opening latch where you can stick in the optional drill bit he used to disable Maximilian.

Would love to have them but it's Amazon, and I don't want that slave labourer world domination seeking Bezos my money.

I just picked up the Iron Giant right before Xmas. It was marked down to about $15 dollars.

I hear ya. I stopped being a regular Amazon customer a decade ago. I got my Black Hole robots off of Ebay. Yeah, I know then my money goes to Evilbay, but you gotta shop somewhere.

Neca recently lost the licence for Godzilla frown Time to get their repackaged line as long as the prices are delivering the bang for bucks. I got Godzilla 2003, Godzilla 62 and Godzilla 89 for $30 each.

The Neca 54 is an inexpensive figure. Nice sculpt and paint (monochrome) but in both aspects inferior to the 54 from S.H.Monsterarts. But the price tag around $30 makes up for the minor flaws in direct comparision.

YES! I pre-ordered mine last October. I choose the three month payment plan. The last charge was supposed to be Dec 15th and shipped out immediately afterwards. Never got charged in December and finally got an email in January saying I was on the waiting list and my final payment won't be until mid February. Either Covid slowed down production or the company sold a lot more units than they expected.

Thanks, I really dislike toys that have a hundred joint lines. I prefer a static figure unless they can make the joints invisible. But this one looks pretty good. I might get it.

  • As with many realms of production/service endeavour, the "charge what the market can bear" schtick has run far amok...

The FOMO culture (fear of missing out) performed a coup de grace in that phrase's back long ago. Now there are manufacturers creating items in the limited number of 100, and it's like WHY DID YOU EVEN BOTHER MAKING THOSE??? ARE YOU TRAINING TO BE A SCALPER??? DO YOU HATE MONEY AND COMMERCE???

  • Ironically, I blame this mindset on a particular Amazing Stories episode starring Mark Hamill, "Gather Ye Acorns". I suspect many a speculator was formed that day.

  • There's also The 40 Year Old Virgin, where Steve Carell's character keeps his treasured childhood playthings mint in the box and sells them all by the end of the movie and makes half-a-million dollars. This is why, whenever I see a YouTube video of some random asshole reviewing movies, there's always a stack of Funko Pops in the original boxes lined up behind him. Dude, those are NOT going to be worth anything!

I see those as well and wonder...

    "..."

... honestly, nothing comes to mind. I'm that flabbergasted. Now I'm curious if there's a hierarchal scheme regarding scalpers, and whether showing such wares guarantees membership in that cabal.

Solium, did you get any of the Replicades? I missed Centipede but got an Dragon's Lair to trade for that later. 1942 comes out very soon followed by Missile Command. My 1/6 scale figures needed a place to hang out.

On the Arcade 1up front I barely managed to get Golden Axe, pre-ordered the Pac-Man Legacy edition and am just waiting for the Dragon's Lair to be available for pre-order. Now that Arcade1up is making all of their games with light up marquees and accurate cabinets the demand is soaring.

Nice collection. I don't have the budget for the half scale versions. I'd love to get Asteroids. Missed out on a few others I think. Still waiting for my Dragon's Lair. I have to be very selective in what I get.

Sorry, OT, but I was wondering: does anyone remember the "Flat Cat" prank toy of the 1980s(?)?

It was a fairly life-like rubber cat that looked like it had been crushed. The idea was to have it partially extend from your car trunk, etc.
It had a very short market run as howls of protest arose from various groups.
I'd like to see if any are still out there but can't find any info.

    It was similar to this:

I do remember the arm out of the trunk gadget of the early 90s.

Never seen that cat but would have bought it in a flash as I absolutely hate, loathe and despise those vermin.
