Always sad to hear about the passing of a member and fellow film score enthusiast. Thanks Thor for keeping that thread updated. I did not know it existed.

First Breath just reminded me that Charles was also a musician, and that he has released several albums in "New Age" territory under his artist name Char-El. Well, looking it up on Youtube, I found a few clips, including this one called "Heaven", which is somehow fitting now:

So sorry to hear of this. I didn't know Charles well, but we conversed in numerous threads here, and we were Facebook friends. My heart goes out to his family and those closest to him.

I've always appreciated Charles' generosity and kind spirit, not to mention our shared love for classic sci fi films and their all-but-forgotten composers. He made it a point to let them (Paul Dunlap et. al.) know that their work was known and appreciated by many of us. A great soul! I'll be missing you, my friend. RIP.

So sad to hear. I always enjoyed Charles's posts, particularly his posts about superhero films and science fiction movies. Rest in peace.

Sad news.

I'll have a listen to our musical collaborations tonight, I think.

Here's one he wrote called Yesterday's Dream. He re-recorded a version of it with the guitar synth removed so I could add my electric guitar solo & riff to it:

I knew that Charles was ill, but I'm shocked nonethelesess, and of course saddened. I'd been caught up in his enthusiasm for all things SF for years. I hope his wife and family are at least a little comforted by the thought of how well loved he was around here. My heartfelt condolences to them.

Well, I'll be. I'd heard him at various times on "Hearts of Space".

R.I.P. Mr. Thaxton.

He is one of the very few FSM'ers with whom I was friends on Facebook. I'm very sad to hear this. We had some very interesting exchanges and he was always nice to me. Rest in peace, Charles.

Same here. I'm not a Facebook user, but I had some nice interactions off-board with Charles a few years ago. I somehow missed the return of this thread on March 3, and now I'm shocked and very saddened by his passing.

What was he, about 65? I figured we were close to the same age what with all the talk we shared about TV shows like Lassie, The Time Tunnel and more. Responding to Charles was to join in on a celebration. That's what comes to mind right away. Nice legacy. frown

Howard, your line"Responding to Charles was to join in on a celebration" really touched my heart. What a lovely tribute.

Get Well! You sent me a CD soundtrack that you made from Invaders from Mars. All I had to do was ask. I'm still grateful. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Always a welcome presence on the board, he was. (I can't believe I'm saying "was" for Charles!)

He's the last person who knew what I was joking about when I would say that something was "technically, a western." A joke that will come to rest now. frown
