My package has been dispatched on june 16 and on transit to germany since june 18. since then no changes/updates. Contacted local DPD customers service and they couldn't help me and told me to contact sender/seller. I've contacted them on june 24 and again on june 26....still no answer/package updates frown

Welcome to the club... It doesn't look good. According to the last tracking information my package arrived in Germany and was out for delivery. After that nothing. Neither DPD UK nor DPD Germany could locate the package any more. The german customer service told me my package is lost and I should contact the sender.

I used the mail provided by the Varese International site and informed them about the situation. In the course of last week I wrote them 3 mails. Therefore it cannot be an office hours thing. I'm still waiting for a reply. I also checked my spam folder. Nothing. frown

I am joining the club. According to the DPD website my package was already delivered to a "Herr Pfefferkorn" (which I am not) two days ago. Unfortunately, it doesn't give an address for "Herr Pfefferkorn", and i wasn't notified. Calling the DPD service hotline wasn't helpful at all. They just told me to contact the sender… no answer, yet.

Has anybody ordering from Germany received their package?

PS: I just walked the road I'm living at up and down and checked all the nameplates on the buildings, and lo and behold: a "Herr Pfefferkorn" is living in close proximity… So, finally I received my package. By the way, the CDs were perfectly wrapped. No cracked cases. Terrific!

The really bad thing here is that DPD was not able to provide an information that a package was delivered to a nice person in the neighborhood. Instead they recommend to contact the seller. Baaah. Philipp, I'm glad that you finally did receive your package. smile

It even turned out, Herr Pfefferkorn was a woman… big grin

Yes, that's pretty poor… it seems to be a recurring problem with DPD because it happened to me before… but all is good in the end. Happy to listen to U.S. Marshals and SeaQuest… smile

Don't get met started on DPD!
I've waited literally months for a book and when it was finally "delivered" by DPD they simply forgot to notify me, that I needed to fetch myself in the next store. When I found out about it, it was too late already, the book sent back to the seller and sold out by the time I contacted him ...

But to get back on topic:
I chose the untracked option and had no problems at all with the delivery while saving quite some money at the same time! wink

Just to advise that Varese's UK site has added "a bunch of stuff" (technical term) recently. Nothing spectacular (no Blood In Blood Outs or anything in that league), but they might fill holes on someone's shelves.

So has anyone from the EU ordered anything from them recently? How does it work with the import taxes these days? As far as I remember they've marked the packages with the full price...

Well the last couple of Limited releases came at the prices that were on the website which is what I was expecting. They post in the UK and deliver in the UK, so the customs people are not involved.

As an aside I recently got 7 CDs from Intermezzo in Italy for a little over £200 including local Italian VAT of around 44 euros. They were delivered by Fedex a couple of week ago with no charges at the time, but Fedex wrote to me earlier this week saying I owed them £65.40 for customs charges / VAT which I must pay immediately. Seems under the new regime I pay VAT twice.

Going back to your question, I don't think you will have any stings in the tail as it were, but obviously the price on the website will include any extra costs to the seller. Other than that ... Happy Days. ... LOL.

I have a doubt on UK Varese, let's see if you can help me:

When I place an order, the shipping can be choose as:

- Royal Mail Intl Tracked
- Courier

I amn't sure which one to choose. Can anyone help me what this mean? Courier is kind like DHL?

By the way, this is getting shipped to Spain. Thanks!!

Just my personal experience: About 2 years ago I did my first order using courier (DPD). The package got lost, sent out by Varese again, got lost again, and in the end I got a refund from Varese because some items in the order were sold out at that point. (Great and friendly customers service by the way.)
Last year I ordered with Royal Mail. No problem at all.

And remember once it reaches Spain , it isn't delivered by royal mail.

I can't speak for DPD, as I've always used the Royal Mail option, which is the U.K.'s regular postal provider, and of the two deliveries so far there have been no problems. I've a third on the way, for Presumed Innocent and Bourne Identity, again by Royal Mail, hopefully will see it arrive shortly after the shipping date (1st June?). I can't speak for international shipping, but I imagine it will rely on the local postal provider rather than a courier service.

I just wish Intrada and La La Land could mirror Varese's UK initiative - I would buy so many more soundtracks if they did.

I think it would need an SAE-like third party to take that initiative. I don't know how much Varese have to pay to store discs this side of the Atlantic, but I wouldn't mind betting it's a near break even, or even a loss making, arrangement.

Thanks for your help! Nowadays you have to pay the VAT of the order when it arrives home, doesn't it? Is it calculated with the total price of the order or just the items (no shipping)?

I wonder though, why can't Intrada and La La Land combine with Varese, work together and share the risk/reward? I'd have thought they could all mutually benefit from such an arrangement, recovering the International sales which shipping costs must have lost them over the past few years.

I'm being selfish and would be more glad if they did this somewhere in the EU just to escape paying customs and VAT... ordering from outside of the EU has got way too expensive.

Not paying VAT is really something we need to get weened off. We've had it happen not by any international standard, but by 'accident', so we shouldn't expect it as a right, however much we might feel that it's unfair compared to many U.S. states not having sales tax(?)
