Could be it. But it’s his death anniversary today so it could be in bad taste next week.
It's been 7 years since his passing. Nobody cares more about film music than the soundtrack labels do.
How would the timing NOT be the most honorable celebration and remembrance of Horner?
They do post anniversary concert programs for classical composers all the time. IMHO, given it's music and how soundtrack archival releases are labors of love, I would say there SHOULD be more and more soundtrack releases made on or around the anniversary of a beloved composer's passing. What better way to celebrate a composers work, but to make them available for those among the living who really care and appreciate them to enjoy.
Let's not forget Star Trek III reissued two weeks ago. What a celebration!
There's not a wasted note in this score. And there's so much good music just waiting to flesh it out. And to have it properly presented without some of the original album's slices and dices....
And to get the haunting cue where they ride the boat to the island.
But all his trickery is on display…danger theme, rehash of previous scores.
Oh the pain!
Oh give it a rest, acting as if he's the only one that rehashes and repeats and quotes others. Just because it's more noticeable with him does not make it worth mentioning, except to highlight your own personality: you're just picking on the fattest kid in the class. Grow up.
