I really like this score but 4 cds for it is ridiculous. The 2 disc edition from a few years back is more than enough.

Fantastic release indeed! Has anyone else noticed that the film version of "Village Destructo" is actually alternate #3 without the brass and not "Village Destructo (Alternate #2)" as seems to be believed? Also, excerpts from both "Village Destructo (Alternate #1)" and "Village Destructo (Alternate #2), coupled with an excerpt from "Troops", are used in the film instead of "Celt Battle Pt. 3". But the ending of the film version is from neither of these three tracks. I can't place where those last few notes, right after Robin's fall, come from. Any ideas? Besides the lengthy "Marriage Plans / Robin's Alive", still missing are the film version of "Wild Times" and another "Medieval Dance" source cue from the camp's festivities. Instead we now have four versions of an unused source track which seems more fitted to castle festivities than to those of a band of outlaws. Interesting. There seems to be missing a short alternate insert for the moment when Robin crashes through the window during the finale. At least I don't seem to be able to figure out where that short bit might have been tracked from. And "Circle of Stones" is just the pitched-up and looped opening of the main title. Even the tempo is sped up whereas in the film the tempo remains the same. Interestingly there's no circle of stones in that scene, just a circle of wood, but I guess "Circle of Stones" just sounds better... Anyway, I'm not nitpicking, just mentioning these details in case they haven't been noticed before. The wealth of great music is a joy to listen to. A wonderful opportunity to revisit the film and its score. Thank you Intrada!

According to Cue Assembly section of the notes, the "Medieval Dances" are for the soft-sounding lyre, which would be well-suited to a band of forest-dwelling outlaws trying not to draw too much attention to themselves. Good point. It may also have been intended for festive music in between dancing. The key fits well with "Maid Marian at the Waterfall / Camp - Reprise / Baby". So they could easily have segued into each other.

Sorry if I missed in a previous post, but is this release the complete score? No matter what, it's an amazing set and happy to have purchased it!

Sorry if I missed in a previous post, but is this release the complete score? No matter what, it's an amazing set and happy to have purchased it!' There was one cue that they've still been unable to find. It also proved impossible to license the song, which Kamen co-wrote, using the man theme from the film, but which is easily found elsewhere Other than that, it's as complete as we're ever likely to get. It's also magnificent. Also, they found the unused End Titles music that Kamen recorded, which is on the album in place of the song, so the album has a much more pleasing conclusion than the previous edition.

Thanks for the info! So what cue is still missing, besides the Bryan Adams song?

The only drawback I can see is that, unfortunately, "Marriage Plans/Robin's Alive" could not be located. Roger confirmed this on the Intrada board.
12M01 - "Marriage Plans / Robin's Alive" (4:53) DVD: 1:41:18 - 1:46:04 Plays from Sheriff's forced marriage proposal to Sheriff telling Marian Robin is Dead, to Robin's survival.
