Onya, I have a feeling this will be right up your street when you give it a listen!

Oh, I suspect so, based on what I've read.

I just hope it wasn't lost in the mail!

Sonor has now mentioned on their Facebook website that LA PROFESSORESSA will also be released on CD next year.

Thanks, this saves me from ordering the LP.

Sounds like a great album, in the tradition of
the “Mondo Morricone” collection-
But I preordered this from Amazon US and they
just moved back the cd release from Dec.4 to Jan.12!
Looking forward to it though

A reminder : the Japanese edition of this CD has one extra track (from UCCIDETE IL VITELLO GRASSO E ARROSTITELO) :

Just got this.
Interesting, rather unusual playlist. Most atonal in places.
Can imagine Ennio smiling at the inclusion of the more challenging tracks. smile
Ive always loved track 4, edda, from smagliatura, but i knew it as La Faille. Kinda weird thriller, french-italian-german 1975 co-production set in greece! (I just noticed Eda mentioned this earlier in thread).
Love the sicilian clan track too.

I recently got this album also. This is prime Morricone for me. This is the kind of music that got me into Morricone in the first place.

I’m loving this challenging side too Bill!
It should be everyone’s second best Morricone compilation (the best obviously being whatever your first compilation was!)
The Japan album is in a jewel case by the way.

I've had a few listens by now, really enjoy it. As I said before I wasn't familiar with the majority of it. I think the cue from Copkiller is my favourite, though it sounds a bit like something else that I can't place.

I quite like the digipak presentation of it.

What is fascinating is that there are five times more unreleased Morricone tracks in the recent online-only releases by DECCA Sugar, but the focus has been almost 100% on the SEGRETO compilation.

It´s quite odd, but Decca/Sugar have in the meantime even added three more Morricone online-only releases besides DICIOTTENNI AL SOLE and LA VOGLIA MATTA:

- L´AGNESE VA A MORIRE (a Sugar title, not a CAM title) which has just a few months ago been reissued on CD by Beat now gets about 12 additional minutes (track 11-17):
https://www.qobuz.com/gb-en/album/lagnese-va-a-morire-ennio-morricone/d81yxjvduiwdb
- IL PRIGIONIERO with about 15 minutes more (track 17-20) than the Digitmovies CD has now a duration of 75 minutes:
https://www.qobuz.com/gb-en/album/lagnese-va-a-morire-ennio-morricone/d81yxjvduiwdb
- The "1943: Un Incontro" episode from TRE DONNE with one additional track at the end:

Apparently they can be found on all digital download platforms - even on Amazon.

Slint and Stefan, the reason for this odd situation might be that the Decca compilation of course benefits a wide distribution and is potentially attractive to non-specialists as well. The whole album is a real treat. By the way, besides the excellent Tema N°5 from LE CLAN DES SICILIENS, there's one inedit track I'm really fond of on this CD: the first one, taken from QUANDO L'AMORE E SENSUALITA. This is a different arrangement of the main theme, featuring weird additional electronic sounds (perhaps performed on the sinket) and percussion. How inventive and crazy this track is! A pity that this score has never been granted any expansion so far because it certainly would be worth it.

I'm listening again to QUANDO L'AMORE... and figure there was already a version of the main theme with weird electronic sounds on the original album, the one entitled Vieni con me per sempre. Still, the one present on the Decca compilation is perfect to kick off the album.

Stefan, slint and laurent, thank you for the interesting info and observations. You are right Laurent, that Quando is a very bold track to start the album with, rather than say edda on track 4.

Hey Roy, glad you are digging the more "challenging" tracks. My neighbours arent! Said to me the other day over the fence: "What on earth were you listening to yesterday??!!" big grin

This is great selection mr Donga but my fave compilations still remain LPs i film della Violenza and Un film una musica.

Both btw for sale on ebay atm for £147 and £82!! Never knew they fetched such prices, Im rich!!! smile

Looked over the details of those and they are indeed lovely albums Bill
Something CDs can never match even if they ever put them out

Further to the above, the bonus track on the Japanese CD edition of MORRICONE SEGRETO is "Scivolando nel buio" (5'16"), one of the two inedits released earlier this year on the Disques Transversales vinyl editon of UCCIDETE IL VITELLO GRASSO E ARROSTITELLO. Unlike the standard editions of this CD which come is a slipcase, the Japanese edition comes in a standard jewel case, similar artwork but with a 12 page booklet with comments on eaxch track (in Japanese only). Like the other editions, it also includes the "hidden" track at the end with excerpts of exchanges between Morricone, Bruno Nicolai and various sound engineers during what I assume are different recording sesssions.

I recommend the "Copkiller" score as a whole. I agree: the "Symphony for a City IV" cue on the "Morricone Segretto" compilation is good, but check out "Symphony for a City II" (4:49). It's fantastic.

I like the chatting clips on the final track. Would be wonderful if an Italian speaker could translate whats being said there?

Is it all from the Macchie Solari session 74 or from different sessions?

At one point Ennio mentions Bruno (so probably Nicolai more than d'amario) and shortly after Ennio also says Roberto (there follows a drum burst). That is definitely Edda first practising Na Na Na Na and then chatting, i guess likely Alessandroni whistling "Le Prisonnier de Hollande" (Auprès de ma blonde) and at one point at the end the Cantori girls chatter and im sure Ennio says "Thank you very much, Ladies." or something to that effect?

And so it continues! Today we have 3 more Morricone digital releases from Decca UOM.

La Venexiana
L’eredita Ferramonti
La Gabbia

Only in the case of LA GABBIA do we have unreleased tracks (inedits) - all 5 of them. Happy days!!

This is all very curious, for instance CAM already released L'eredità Ferramonti online in 2013. The tracklist is the same with very minor changes in cover art and likely mastering? Both releases can be found from a search.

I Due Evasi di Sing Sing is now confirmed on LP and soon on CD. Although currently only the LP can be ordered. Maybe the CD will be released by another label.
