So much for an expanded score, then. frown

Digital only?? Finally the music from the T-Rex chase and it's iTunes only? Wow, lame.

that you have to buy the whole album is also discouraging. but man the idea of new jp music is kind of a crazy thing to be confronted with on a random tuesday evening.

Does this even fit on 1 cd with those extra 11 minutes?

The entire score doesn't take up a CD so I'd imagine.

Correction: My DVD rip is 76 minutes... but I'm not sure how much music was recorded for the film and not actually used. The iTunes version would be over 80 minutes, but there's some repetition, like the End Credits.

Where exactly is "Hungry Raptor" placed in the film? And I'm assuming "The Coming Storm" would fit right before "Dennis Steals the Embryo"...

The one track I wanted wasn't there... the part where we see the mosquito in the amber then cut to the Badlands. Love that choir.

the mosquito cue is at the end of Track 19

most of these bonus tracks have combined 2 unreleased cues.

All the unreleased music is there except 3 short cues I'm not sure about

Wit the OST it's an *almost* complete score.

It's there, at the end of "The Coming Storm." That track and "The History Lesson" combine multiple unreleased cues.

You are right - it can never be easy, can it!? Looks like I have some editing to do. Anybody care to take a crack at breaking down the new cues? The only one that is obvious is the Stalling one, which I admit I've already deleted :-)

Here's the details, folks.

The OST contained 1:03:21 of film cues (+ the concert arrangement [track 2] + one entirely repeated track [track 16 is a repeat of the end of track 7])

The iTunes release adds 11:03 minutes of film cues (its 7 cues spread over 4 tracks), bringing the total to 1:14:24.

There is only 2:40 of music still unreleased:

1. 4m2 You Bred Raptors (0:36)
2. 8m1 The Trouble With Dennis (1:15)
3. 11m1 (0:49)

Here's a list of all the film cues and where you can find them:

01 1ma Opening Titles = OST 1
02 1m1 Incident at Isla Nublar = OST 3 [0:00-2:12]
03 1m2 The Encased Mosquito = BON 19 [2:46-end]
04 2m1 The Entrance of Mr. Hammond = BON 17 [0:00-0:56]
05 2m3/3m1 To The Island = OST 04 [0:00-4:31]
06 3m2 The Dinosaurs = OST 04 [4:31-7:31]
07 3m2a The Entrance of the Park = OST 04 [7:32-end]
08 3m3 Cartoon Demonstration = BON 18
09 4m1 Hatching Baby Raptor = OST 6 [0:00-1:57]
10 4m2 You Bred Raptors = Unreleased
11 5m1 The History Lesson = BON 17 [0:56-end]
12 5m2 Jurassic Park Gate = OST 13
13 5m3 Goat Bait = OST 14 [0:00-2:20]
14 6m2 An Ailing Monster = OST 08 [0:00-2:27]
15 6m3 The Coming Storm = BON 19 [0:00-1:16]
16 7m1 Dennis Steals the Embryos = OST 9
17 8m1 The Trouble With Dennis = Unreleased
18 9m1 The Falling Car = OST 3 [2:13-end]
19 9m2 The T-Rex Chase = BON 19 [1:16-2:46]
20 9m3/10mA A Tree For My Bed = OST 10
21 10m1 Remembering Petticoat Lane = OST 12
22 10m2 My Friend, The Brachiosaurus = OST 8 [2:27-end]
23 10m3 Eggs in the Forest = OST 6 [1:57-end]
24 11m1 Untitled = Unreleased
25 11m2 Preparing to Meet the Monster = OST 14 [2:21-end]
26 11m3/12m1 High Wire Stunts = OST 11
27 12m2 Hungry Raptor = BON 20
28 12m3/13m1 Into the Kitchen = OST 5
29 13m2 March Past the Kitchen Utensils = OST 15 [0:00-4:08]
30 13m3/14m1 T-Rex to the Rescue = OST 15 [4:09-end]
31 14m2 End Credits = OST 7

BONUS 3m2 Record Intro = OST 2 [0:00-0:48]
BONUS 3m2 Ending = OST 2 [3:13-end]
(These two cues were combined with the existing recording of 3m2 to create the OST track "Theme From Jurassic Park")

Here's how you can arrange things into chronological order, providing you are willing to edit the audio and create faked openings and endings:

01 Opening Titles (OST 1)
02 Incident at Isla Nublar (OST 3 0:00-2:12)
03 The Encased Mosquioto (BON 19 2:46-end)
04 The Entrance Of Mr. Hammond (BON 17 0:00-0:56)
05 Journey To The Island (OST 4)
06 Stalling Around (BON 18)
07 Hatching Baby Raptor (OST 6 0:00-1:57)
08 The History Lesson (BON 17 0:56-end)
09 Jurassic Park Gate (OST 13)
10 Goat Bait (OST 14 0:00-2:20)
11 An Ailing Monster (OST 08 0:00-2:27)
12 The Coming Storm (BON 19 0:00-1:16)
13 Dennis Steals the Embryos (OST 9)
14 The Falling Car (OST 3 2:13-end)
15 The T-Rex Chase (BON 19 1:16-2:46)
16 A Tree For My Bed (OST 10)
17 Remembering Petticoat Lane (OST 12)
18 My Friend, The Brachiosaurus (OST 8 2:27-end)
19 Eggs In The Forest (OST 6 1:57-end)
20 Preparing to Meet the Monster (OST 14 2:21-end)
21 High Wire Stunts (OST 11)
22 Hungry Raptor (BON 20)
23 Into the Kitchen (OST 5)
24 T-Rex Rescue and Finale (OST 15)
25 End Credits (OST 7)

Alternatively, here's a mostly-chronological playlist you can make without editing any tracks:

01 Opening Titles (0:33)
03 Incident at Isla Nublar (5:20)
04 Journey to the Island (8:51)
18 Stalling Around (2:32)
06 Hatching Baby Raptor (3:21)
17 The History Lesson (2:28)
13 Jurassic Park Gate (2:04)
08 My Friend, the Brachiosaurus (4:16)
09 Dennis Steals the Embryo (4:56)
19 The Coming Storm (3:58)
10 A Tree for My Bed (2:12)
12 Remembering Petticoat Lane (2:48)
14 Eye to Eye (6:32)
11 High-wire Stunts (4:08)
20 Hungry Raptor (2:05)
05 The Raptor Attack (2:49)
15 T-Rex Rescue & Finale (7:40)
07 Welcome to Jurassic Park (7:55)

Notes:
02 Theme from Jurassic Park (3:27) is a theme track that mostly duplicates a cue inside OST track 4, you can place it where you like (most people put it at the beginning as an overture)

16 End Credits (3:25) is a duplicate of the end of Track 7 and is not needed at all.

Phew!

And I would buy it instantly...

... but again, it is only available on itunes in the USA. Europeans are left out.

I'm going to wait patiently in hopes that this comes out on a pressed CD reissue for the 3D rerelease as well...no harm no foul, because if it doesn't, I can always buy on iTunes. If it IS iTunes-only, it's a huge bummer.

No, I wouldn't want that.

JURASSIC PARK is one of my alltime favourite films, it's probably my alltime favourite score AND favourite soundtrack album. So I think everything is perfect just the way it is.

As it transpires there is only 13 minutes of music (moody underscore?) that wasn't included on the original CD, I'm inclined to agree with you. It proves the fact the original release was more than adequate.

Indeed! HUUURRRAAAYYY the future of music distribution: compressed sound, soft MP3 "ticks" between tracks when burned to CD and geographic exclusivity.

You asked for it. You got it.

I really don´t get it. Wouldn´t they want to sell it to as many customers as possible? Do they think outside the US there are no score fans?

You'd think so, but companies are dumb.

Though to be fair, there are often right issues involved. The more syndrome -- they can control the pricing. One of the big reasons for DVD regions was so that people in Japan wouldn't import the cheaper ones from the US.
Even so it's majorly stupid that with NO difference in cost to sell to someone in the US vs in, say, Russia (outside perhaps CC and exchange rate issues) one is limited to "piracy or nothing" just because of where they sit their butt.

This would be great news except for the fact that this new material has been released only in lossy quality.

Very disappointing.
