Thanks. Mr B is 'very ill', we're told, and won't be collecting his award in Ghent soon. Very sad that we don't know more about his circumstances. We wish him well.

Finally!

A thread about John Barry that does not take several minutes even with a high speed internet connection to load.

I'm still conscious that our book is still not readily available in the States - and it certainly needs to be! There's a lot of Barry fans out there and I'm certain some may still not even be aware of the book's release.

I'm trying to get something organised so that it can be ordered from a US supplier at a decent price before copies are sold out. I will post a further message when I have any further news.

In the meantime copies can still be ordered through the usual sources (including the Barry website - details below) though I appreciate that postage to USA costs as much as the book itself:

Surprised SAE won't pick up a few copies.

What would you suggest?" smile wink big grin

I would urge anyone who is not just a fan of John Barry, but of film music itself to pick up this book. It is a thoroughly detailed and well produced biography and a fantastic reference source.

I have read the book cover to cover and in the past week especially, have referred to the book many times!

It deserves to sell out!

Thanks very much. I do appreciate it's not easy to get if you don't live in the UK, but the various on-line Amazon outlets appear to be very adept at ordering it, especially amazon.com.

It's very expensive to ship from here - postage is around $15 - but around $32 post-free from amazon.com is pretty good, if you live in the States. I'm not suggesting it's about to go out of print, but sales have picked up rapidly in the last few days, for obvious reasons.

It's a great book! What a shame that it takes such a tragic event for it to start shifting more copies though.

I'll add my ringing endorsement to the list. It's comprehensive, well-written, entertaining, and chock full of information that will leave any John Barry fan well-satisfied.

Thanks, Neo! Ruud tried to sell some books last night by issuing business cards to anybody he saw admiring the book we had with us (we weren't allowed to have an official stall). Oddly enough, it seemed everybody he approached already had a copy!

I was one of the people who already had the book Geoff (and rather wonderful it is too, anyone without one should defintely invest in a copy!), but I did appreciate the card: it will make a nice bookmark in my copy! smile
