The last thing this thread needs is one more nerd saying this LLL set is the best expansion ever but THE ST-TMP EXPANSION IS THE GREATEST 3 CD SET EVER Just like the sign says - THERE IS NO COMPARISON.

The 20th Anniversary set didn't even do a good job of passing along INSIDE STAR TREK. They had a nice opportunity with Nichelle Nichols to add a bonus track at the beginning or end with whatever her thoughts were, but instead they chose to jam her into the middle of tracks, disrupting the vintage album with contrary thoughts from a later era. So if you wanted to re-live your childhood memory of the LP, you can forget it. Now you've got extraneous material coming at you that you can't skip. I do not blame Nichelle for this. I blame the CD producers for their arrogance and total failure to consider the obvious target audience of that old, and yes stupid but still historical LP. That said, it's still better than nothing, and I'm not parting with it.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture is just about the best presentation of a score that I can think of. All of my Star Wars soundtracks are jealous. Thanks for the ride.

I saw this and thought she might be Neil Shurley's wife..... I want this. As much as you wanted the Enterprise, I want this.

I saw this and thought she might be Neil Shurley's wife..... I want this. As much as you wanted the Enterprise, I want this. Originally I was just going to post an admission that I never went for the LLL package until last month and am so happy that I avoided missing out foolishly. But after seeing the above, I add that 1) I know now I married the wrong woman, and 2) I must already have had my biggest laugh for today. Thanks, Neil!

Aw man WTH!!!!! I literally didn't catch on till it came in the mail. The 20th is like a 1-CD for the price of a 2-CD! The wind is strong, this will travel far.....ZING!!! In its day, the 20th Anniversary TMP was a good release. Disc 1 was a huge step up from the old LP-program CD, and Disc 2 was of value to those of us who had owned INSIDE STAR TREK on vinyl. I'm just unhappy with the botched presentation of INSIDE STAR TREK. Of course, with the LLL TMP, you have more than everything. I'm amazed by bts tracks, like Craig Huxley trying to perform the blaster beam and being treated so disrespectfully by "serious" musicians. And then if you add in the alternate mix of "Inner Workings" on LLL's 50th Anniversary set, you've gone beyond even that, to a level of comprehensive satisfaction that defies want.
