The script seamed to be written for preteens. So consistent with Star Wars as a whole then! Pretty good! Well, the prequels and Disneys sequels for sure. And you should also include the classic trilogy as well. Star Wars has always been aimed at young people, not to pander, but to help inform and guide. So says George Lucas himself. And this isn't a criticism, this doesn't minimize the franchise at all, but it's the appropriate context through which to view it all. If you're not able to see this, then you've missed the point. This line of thinking that Star Wars has always been ~~ adult~~ and a ~~serious and solemn~~ piece of cinema always kills me. You got someone named Boba Fett, a teddy bear dance party, and some really awful droid slapstick all through the original movies. Come on, people.

The point is other people aren't any of kind reasonable measure.

Star Wars from the beginning and entirely by design is a Mythological Parable aimed directly at preteens. Twelve year olds to be exact. George is on record quite extensively about his motives in creating an old fashioned adventure story that taught kids values and morals. People have been going round and round about this for twenty or thirty years. Star Wars is a much more "adult" film than the prequels or even Jedi. I think in 1975 Lucas was writing the kids movie that he wanted to see and by 1995 he was writing the kids movie that he thought his kids wanted to see. Furthermore is that Abrams and Johnson (I just watched TFA and TLJ this weekend) are writing the Star Wars movies that THEY always wanted to see. Just when I was really getting into these scores along comes Chapter 6, and all I can say is the music sounds like hot garbage. Hoping Chapters 7 and 8 are more orchestral... It's tonally very different than past episodes. I kept thinking it sounded like the original Terminator. Which certainly fit the episode. It was a very tense episode. I mean, you knew the goodies were going to win, you just weren't always sure how.

Chapter 7 score more my taste, and includes the best orchestral rendition of the main theme so far. Looking forward to the final chapter.

It's an excellent series, and a very well done final episode too. I've already aired my discontent about the music here. As with ROGUE ONE, it's unfortunate that such a fine film/show is being tainted by insipid music, but I'm not going to let that destroy my appreciation too much. Interesting that you are so turned off by the series' score. I immediately found it refreshing and enjoyable, a nice departure from the music before it. I think it suits the show perfectly, although, admittedly, I was less enamored with the music from a couple of middle episodes. Looking forward to more episodes from this wonderful series, along with Goransson's efforts.

I'd have been just as satisfied if the makers of The Mandalorian had ignored the middle episodes and stitched together episodes one, two and eight into a two-hour movie. I like the theme, am thrilled the makers get it into the action of every episode, and hope Goransson comes up with more.
