So, I am trying to figure out why specialty CDs (e.g., Intrada, La-La Land, Varese, etc.) are listed for such absurd prices ($100+) within months after they are out of print. Also, why is it so difficult to find so many titles? Are the pressings so limited (even though a lot of Intrada titles say 'while interest remains)? Supply and demand? I know this interest is a niche market, but it shouldn't be so difficult to acquire a release that numbers in the thousands. I get the impression that folks buying these titles aren't parting with them (at least not for years, if in their lifetime). Anyway, your thoughts?

I know it's not impossible but I can't for the life of me imagine paying that much for music. I have some semi-rare OOP scores that I've seen going for that price--The Indy box set was going for several hundred on ebay last time I looked and Independence Day is ridiculously expensive. The few rare CDs that I've sold all went for way under what the "market" value is. I think a lot of those are wishful thinking--if they really wanted to sell the thing, they'd price it to sell.

I've breathed in my fair share of that poison gas. For a few years I was obsessed with tracking down the original Bowie RCA CD's. I would be ashamed to admit some of the amounts I paid. It got to the point where I had to cash in investments to pay off my VISA bill. That caused me to finally pull my head out of my arse.p I have LOW if yore interested. $+00. CHEAP!

Seriously Is LOW ' collectibe'? I have the RYKO with bonus track's No, amigo, it was the original RCA CD's I was talking about. Those are the ones that, to this day, go for crazy money. Really?! Bowie signed with Ryko cuz he didn't want his CDs to be sold for cheap- like the WHO on Mca or his own label I guess the RCA ones were produced in small amounts before he switched? Ant differences?
