TINKER BELL

Label: Disney / Intrada D001892602
Date: 2008
Tracks: 26
Time = 60:07

World premiere release of Joel McNeely soundtrack for Walt Disney 2008 animated feature. One of Disney's most beloved characters inspires composer to create magical, playful orchestral score replete with yearning ideas for lost collectibles, lyrical melodies for Tinker Bell, musical wisps for Pixie Hollow, much more. Exotic colors abound. It is a score that literally sparkles with delight. Celtic sounds, birds, crickets, drops of water, all are captured in skillful meld of gently dramatic, hauntingly beautiful musical vignettes. Highlights are plentiful but surely deserving spotlight is "Choosing A Talent" with rich major to minor chords that crescendo into powerful, massive orchestra/choral peroration. Breathtaking! Capturing attention in action mode is powerful "Hawk!", with heroic moment for French horn, trumpet. "Sprinting Thistles" commands as well. For sheer exuberant splendor, listen no further than to "Rebuilding Spring". McNeely shines! And yes, you also get that soaring vocal "Fly To Your Heart" as well. Beautifully packaged, illustrated booklet graces Disney/Intrada co-brand CD. Joel McNeely conducts.

This is a blind buy for me, but just out of curiosity: does the score make any reference to Oliver Wallace's score for Peter Pan, or is it completely original?

To my knowledge no. (Though Return To Neverland did.)
Most exciting release of the year for me. Instant buy for as well! Edit: Why is there a Selena Gomez song on this release? Was that the "End Credits" music?

End Credits starts with the song and finishes with McNeely´s music.

Figured that had to be it. Thxs.

This is outstanding news. These Tinkerbell scores - and each of the sequels - are absolute knockouts. The kind of music that lovers of emotional, thematic, beautiful, fully orchestral scores crave.

This is a knockout release. Let's hope this sells well so we can get the sequel scores which are just as fantastic.

fully orchestral but void of emotion, to my ears. I prefer his MULAN 2 score. Glory days of Joel McNeely are long past... IMHO.

If Hook is something you enjoy, then this is right up your alley.

it surely was a score mr. Mcneely enjoyed. smile

We still have the Seth MacFarlane western he's scoring, "A Million Ways to Die in the West", to reckon' with yet. ;-)

Void of emotion??!!?! The TINKER BELL scores are absolutely overflowing with emotion!! That's one of the reasons I love them so much.

"...void of emotion..." Seriously? I would bet Mr. McNeely and a plethora of his fans would disagree - including this one.

I'm very excited about this release and placed my order immediately. McNeely's TINKER BELL scores are surely amongst his greatest works. Let's hope there will be followup releases of his equally dazzling scores for the sequels. Thank you, Intrada, for making this happen!
