So, Number 250 is 'The Wild Bunch'! Good luck to all those who like it but I'm afraid it leaves me cold. For me the big quesrtion now is - will we be getting 'The Ten Commandments' from someone? Judging by the comment made when someone asked if the score was to be re-recorded by Tadlow it seemed that a release of the original soundtrack was 'in the wind'. I certainly hope so as, for my money, this score ranks as one of the best Biblical scores ever. David

You'll be getting a spectacular presentation of The Ten Commandments before too long, so don't worry. When you hear it all, you'll elevate it from "a fine score" to one of the greatest ever. But in the meantime, definitely enjoy FSM's spectacular release for The Wild Bunch. Another one of the greatest ever. --Doug http://www.intrada.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5465

Indeed, it would be nice if they included the LP re-recording Bernstein did, remastered...but since they omitted the one for Masada I'm prepared to settle for the complete original score if that's what we can get...which will be FANTASTIC!. Yavar

I was hoping for something that had never been released before. I have the single disc of this score manufactured by SAE years ago and that's enough for me.

Over in another thread here, it was Kimmel or Fritzpatrick, as I recall, that said the tapes for the re-recordings were being pulled, too. I just hope it doesn't go overboad with a little book, a seperate CD of re-recorded love themes by other composers, and the kitchen sink.

Yeah, I have held off on that one hoping to find is used somewhere for less than half price because I do not need the extras, just score.

Doug Raynes is right in that the thing would require at LEAST 5 CDS in fact, so I don't imagine people should get orgasmic over such a proposition: it might not materialise. The OST would presumably need presentation as two CDs. The Dot 2LP is a third, the later stereo release now on MCA would be the fourth, and the 1966 reperformed UA/Sunset half hour album (which is good when heard in proper sound, and quite different in some ways) would bring this to four and a half discs. As regards extras, who knows what exists? If anything is still around, then probably everything is, and I'd imagine that Elmer Bernstein's various spec demos for the dances which he composed first before Young exited might be extant. All things considered, it'd probably take six, unless the 1966 album was omitted. It's a bit much to expect all that, and maybe unfair on Intrada. We shouldn't be spoiled.
