Does anybody think it a trifle worrying that, two days after release, a long-time sought-after never-released holy grail like Joe Kidd is announced and only 20 people thus far have commented on it?
Is this a sign of the times?
I think I can explain this reaction .
JOE KIDD is not a highly regarded Eastwood film. Even fan(atics) like me do not rewatch it over and over like the Leone films, DRIFTER, JOSEY WALES etc.
So, i really did not recall the music as being special like DRIFTER for example.
Plus, much music was left out of the finished film.
NOW, having heard the fine Intrada cd, i can appreciate its many virtues and highly recommend it- even if you do not care for the film.
It has many of the elements that make DIRTY HARRY so enjoyable.
I like the contemporay approach , even if some experts bemoan the "anachronistic" use of synths.
Lalo was never better than in the 70's!
