To the list of classic MGM musicals, I suppose we should also add THE BELLE OF NEW YORK, which was originally a CBS/Sony CD, then a download, and now is a Film Score Monthly CD. Then there were the other MGM musicals that were on the CBS/Sony CDs from the early 1990s, but never made it to the Rhino CDs: Deep In My Heart (now a download) Get Yourself a College Girl I Love Melvin / Two Weeks With Love Till the Clouds Roll By Words and Music

At the time of its release, posters here were referring to the Rhino SUPERMAN as the standard against which all soundtracks should be judged. Of course, there's been a lot of water under the bridge since then and a lot of tremendous, complete scores produced in multi-disc sets. But at the time, it was a stunner. It still has a certain elegance, to be so compact compared to the Blue Box and yet deliver so many goodies.

Bob, you've picked up several of the double-score Rhino CDs (2 scores on one CD), like LOVELY TO LOOK AT / TEXAS CARNIVAL and SUMMER STOCK / IN THE GOOD OLD SUMMERTIME, but there were others, too. BEST FOOT FORWARD had 4 pieces (approx. 17 minutes) from ABBOTT AND COSTELLO IN HOLLYWOOD. THREE LITTLE WORDS had 6 pieces (approx 28 minutes) from YOLANDA AND THE THIEF. BROADWAY MELODY OF 1940 had 12 pieces from ROSALIE. There was also material from MEET THE PEOPLE (approx 3 pieces), THE BIG STORE (approx. 3 pieces), and THE BARKLEYS OF BROADWAY (approx 6 pieces) on 3 other discs, but I've forgotten which ones. None of these double score CDs (except SUMMER STOCK/IN THE GOOD OLD SUMMERTIME, I think) integrated art or description for both films into the covers, so you had to discover the inclusions of other material by reading the trayback. There may be even more I've forgotten.

There may be even more I've forgotten. Thanks. I had totally left out BROADWAY MELODY of 1940. I've added that to the list and put the others in as parenthetical notes. Five tracks from MEET THE PEOPLE were on the DU BARRY WAS A LADY CD. Also, one additional different track was on the "Alive and Kickin'" compilation. Tracks from THE BARKLEYS OF BROADWAY appeared on the compilations "Fred Astaire at M-G-M" (5 tracks), "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" (1 track), and "George and Ira Gershwin In Hollywood" (1 track). The latter two single tracks may be duplicates of what's on "Fred Astaire at M-G-M." I'm not aware of any other tracks. I don't know where THE BIG STORE may have appeared. I've also noted that GOOD NEWS (1947) also included two tracks from the 1930 version I've decided to not list all of the films included in the compilations. Most of the compilations have their detailed contents listed on Soundtrack Collector.

I would add the single CD release of the Garland/Rooney "Girl Crazy" - otherwise you have them all covered! Alistair Done.

Here are some additions to the listing: Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town/Frosty The Snowman Singin' In The Rain (50TH Anniversary Deluxe 2 CD Box Set) Hollywood's Best: The Thirties Hollywood's Best: The Fourties Hollywood's Best: The Fifties Hollywood's Best: The Sixties (actually M-G-M's best ) I've added all of the above to the list. I’ve also added the following that were released by Rhino: The “Billboard Top Movie Hits” series. Most of the tracks in that series of five CDs were licensed from other labels. A Julie Andrews compilation issued in 1996, licensed totally from Columbia, RCA, and Buena Vista show and film score recordings. The single CD version of THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT. “Brain In a Box: The Science Fiction Collection” – a 5-CD set of film, TV, and sci-fi oriented pop tracks. Two “Crime-Stoppers” CDs of cop and P.I. themes. The song score from Bob Rafelson’s 1968 film with the Monkees, HEAD. A CD of TV themes: “TV Land Presents Favorite TV Theme Songs”
