No idea, but assuming it wasn't written for the commercial, I'd be curious what context it was used in originally. It sounds very melancholy, yet the video transforms the music into something else, almost resolute and proud. The power of the marriage of music and image is a pretty cool thing.

Yeah I agree. I'm very certain that it was not written for the commercial.

But yeah for those interested, this is a commerical for the start of the new season in the English Premier League. I'm from Iceland and one of the biggest teams in Europe just bought an Icelandic player who is featured in this ad. Considering our small population, that is an incredible accomplishment.

The commerical includes old home video of him 6 years old practicing and footage of him making it in the big stage in the european football world. Inspiriational stuff.

Anyways, as a filmstudent/musician I'm dying to know what track this is. smile

It could be an original piece done by the network.

The piece has a Zimmer-type sound to it. The ad seems to have an Icelandic origin and one composer in the Zimmer stable, Atli Orvasson, is Icelandic. He's probably the composer here.

Hopefully no one will mind if I use another thread (maybe create a catch-all thread) for the same purpose:

Anybody recognize this music in this radio commercial? Sounds very familiar, but I can't place it (maybe a knock off piece):

I'm not positive, but it certainly sounds like music from "Lady In The Water" by JNH.

No, it's not this.

Honestly it made no musical scenes to my ears, just random notes on a keyboard with a Strings sample.

Regarding the original video, I don't think it's specifically for this advert because you can hear it fading in at the start.

It sounds synth to me, which suggests that it's probably library music. Unfortunately neither Shazam nor YouTube's content ID identify it.

It reminds me of "Truman Sleeps" a lot (but it's not), now that I think of it. Could what I linked to be by Philip Glass?

I agree. Sounds like typical cheap-to-use library synth stuff that ad agencies provide to their more impoverished clients.
