Lukas Kendall says:

FSM CD #248 is almost done and we expect it to be available in mid to late July, a 2CD set. There are only three FSM titles left before we shut the label down and this one will be of great interest, I am sure! (That's not a hint, it's a fact!)

Friends, we are waiting for, of all things, the final approval of the artwork so it may not be out until August. Stay tuned...

2CDs. Probably an impressive score by one of the heavyweights.
But that is it for my guessing, the rest would just be wish fulfillment which I get quite enough of on here.

Hm... rumors were flying a while back about John Barry's KING KONG when the original FSM CD was heavily discounted. And now that CD is gone from SAE.

Perhaps it's the complete score on one CD, the original album on the other...

Guess=wish. Maybe King Kong original score & album or The Ten Commandments. I'd prefer KK but would think Ten Commandments would be favorite.

Ten Commandments on only 2 CDs? Something this important would deserve Ben Hur kind of treatment, but finally another Elmer would be nice!

sounds like a reasonable assumption.

My 3 guesses:

BODY HEAT, OUTLAW JOSEY WALES, THE WILD BUNCH

but, i'm open to anything right now. Three Days of the Condor was a big surprise :-).

I'm sure it will be good whatever it is, but what is really killing me is why does Lukas have to "shut the label down" ? Why could he not leave it open and maybe just do three or four special releases each year and continue the great tradition of Film Score Monthly ? Many of us are going to sorely miss FSM...please Lukas, reconsider!

I'd like to see BODY HEAT too, but even if Lukas release it, it will come as FSM #249 or FSM #250 - Barry re-recorded only two cues - Chapeau Gratis & Heather (in both case film version was shorter); another 'alternate' cue will be I'm Frightened - there was alternate mix in the middle of scene. I don't know that can be done with my favorite cue I'm Weak - album version had lovely intro which was cut from film version, but film version had short coda with fantastic sax solo (25-30 sec again) that was cut from album...
In any words, 1 CD for Body Heat will be enough. But not for King Kong wink
And this is sad - I'd like to see BOTH titles from FSM frown

He just doesn't want to do it anymore. Having to deal with rights holders and legal issues simply took the fun out of it.

The expanded Wild Bunch was released. FSM sold it but it wasn't an FSM disc & I can't see one of the last three being a re-release. It's a great score & disc (I'm lucky enough to have it), I'm sure someone will re-release it one day (La-La?). It looks like there's a real problem releasing Josey Wales, but in the meantime how about the Warner album? Better than nothing. I'd love Body Heat, but arn't the tapes supposed to be missing?

I don't believe lost tapes stories any more.

But the 2CD won't be Body Heat cos that score ain't long enough to need a 2CD treatment.

I know we've been through all this before but I don't think the complete score for King Kong will fit on one disc.
Then add to that the alternates and unused cues.
Sure looks like FSM could be bringing in the big one. smile

I'm hoping that one of the last FSMs will be a double header of "Rebel Without a Cause" and "East of Eden" -- so I'll keep my fingers crossed. Oh, and "The Great Race" would be of great interest to me at least!

For the sake of a legit Diabolik release, I'm inclined to do the same.
