In the third pic with the people lined up there appears to be a man in a ST First Contact era uniform. Pretty cool!

I wasn't quick enough to get a photo of René Auberjonois when he walked up to the line and asked what was going on.

That is, of course, our own Superman1701 - Trekkie supreme!

Great interview!

Only one tiny factual quibble. The author adds a parenthetical aside that Craig Hundley/Huxley worked on some William Shatner albums. I believe that's mistaken, but that he DID contribute musically to some of Shatner's live performances.

Interesting to read that Alan Howarth scored the pre-Goldsmith ST:TMP trailers that had electronic music. I don't remember seeing that anywhere before.

I was curious about the Shirley Jones anecdote, and wondered how that little meeting came about, wherein she was able to hear her son Shaun's "A Star Beyond Time" recording for the first time. Did she just happen to be doing something else at the studio on a day you guys happened to be there?

--Also, what was the source for the Cassidy track on the new set? It was never previously released on CD (unlike the Bob James track), correct?

I'm also really enjoying this release. Just listened to the "Main Theme (Pop version)" for the first time last night... Whoa! C'mon and say it with me folks: "I GOTTA have more cow bell!!"

Too much fun!

Just been listening to disc 3 again, and like the poster before me I was really digging the Main Theme (Pop Version), so much so I wanted to dig this thread up again. Very much a product of its time but dang it gets you going.

Reminds me a little of the upbeat track on the album version of Star Trek 3.

This set really was a phenomenal release, and I am so very glad that LLL give it the 3CD treatment it got. There is such a wealth of material on there that is nice to have even if one doesn't listen to it regularly.

Still a hallmark of a set and I don't think any release will soon top the amount of awesomeness in obtaining it.

I only wish there was some actual behind the scenes videos and interviews involving the making of this set like they did with the the original series soundtrack release.

What he said -- GREAT set. And even though Joe Sikoryak did wonderful designs for all the other classic Trek films, I hope he won't be offended if I say John Takis's work here is tops for me.

The only small problem was that the last track of disc two screws up for me on all players (and when I try to rip it)...but since it's just on the original album instead of the complete score, I figured it wasn't worth bugging LLL about.
