I was never that big of a Laurence Rosenthal fan, but I always really loved this one for some reason.
This theme always kind of reminded me of Goldsmith's CASSANDRA CROSSING and Harnell's INCREDIBLE HULK Theme. It even has echoes of Goldsmith's unreleased THE SALAMANDER (Also most deserving of a CD Release)
I remember buying the LP at my local TOWER RECORDS after working at a movie theater where it was First Run. I loved sneaking away from my popcorn and drinks station into the theater to hear superb End Titles in all their Stereo glory. Fun movie too! Top cast. Wow 1978. I was 21.
I made it my business as a record vendor to naturally put the best looking cover albums out in the front of the tables, so when it came to lp soundtracks, alot of Varese lp;s were displayed right in front, i also loved the feel of the covers, touching them, yes Varese gave alot of film music collecting enjoyment beyond the actually music.
I really hope that BRASS TARGET by Laurence Rosenthal is in Varese's next Club CD batch. This is a great 70's score which had a Varese LP release decades ago. And it would be a great hommage to Laurence Rosenthal, who according to Intrada's Douglass Fake also would like a CD release of his marvellous score (of course Douglass Fake and Lukas Kendall want it to be released on CD too).
