I was looking to see if this was covered yet but even if it has been why not an update. What is your favorite Christmas movie of all time and i wonder will a film starting with the letter I get a easy victory?
I'd have to agree; though National Lampoons Christmas Holiday is a close second, I've probably seen Die Hard the most on Christmas; and what better movie to celebrate this now overly commercial milkcow holiday than a heist movie.
I like the original Miracle on 34th Street. Edmund Gwenn is great as Kris Kringle and Natalie Wood showed the sort of talent that would make her a star in later life.
I recall seeing this film when I was very young, on Xmas eve. These days I actually hate Xmas (long story) and if it wasn't for my son I'd happily go abroad to somehwere very hot to get away from it. But way back then, when Xmas was magical and seemed to take forever to arrive, seeing this film was just the most amazing way to start the countdown for the big day.
One Xmas film I have never got the love for is It's A Wonderful Life.
I've seen the film countless times trying desperately to get into it and to understand why it is so well loved, but I just find dull. Yes, it has a very uplifting ending but getting there is such a chore!
Great movie. Best scene in it is the lovely Lauren Graham totally destroying her Gilmore Girls image by bouncing on top of Billy Bob Thornton singing "fuck me santa, fuck me santa".
Gremlins! Great movie especially at Xmas (particularly if like me you are not a fan of the holiday season - and no I never found a dead santa in my chimney)
