He no longer has a clean bill of health from Dr. McCoy.

RIP to a fine character actor.

He co-wrote the songs for "The Way to Eden" along with Deborah Downey (who played the blonde hippie). It was a big, uncredited contribution to the show.

He was in my all-time favorite movie, BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS. And one of my favorite episodes of STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE, "Little Green Men".

"Headin' down to Eden...hey, brother..."

He did the Hulk's growls on the Bixby show after Ted Cassidy died. (also was in RETURN OF THE INCREDIBLE HULK battling Thor)

He will be forever, Baxter Woolfe to me. Mostly, because it's the role I've seen the most, and because I actually was in attendance at the opening night part for BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS, at David Gurian's place in Hollywood, where we had a hell of a good time. Rest in Peace.

Charles Napier was a fantastic character actor, and would always elevate a scene just by his presence alone. His ugly mug will be missed, but he left behind quite a trail of great stuff to be treasured for all time.

R.I.P. Mr. Napier and godspeed to you.

He could be seen in just about every film from director Jonathan Demme. Napier gave new meaning to the term Lantern Jawed.

I loved Napier as the asshole chef in Demme's Something Wild. That film also had a fun cameo by another favorite character actor of mine, Tracy Walter.

Here's a not-very-good Italian sci-fi movie I checked out 'cause Napier was in it.

And a short interview with Napier

I wish all the talented actors would stop dying. They are not leaving us with much as far as talent is concerned.

Charles will be missed.

For crying out loud, what a bad day for these RIP announcements!

Napier was fantastic. I never saw him in anything that I didn't like and that includes the Russ Meyer stuff (he always had the coolest hair, too--except for the space-hippy bit)!

RIP.

I always thought he was rather handsome, myself.

My favourite Napier performance was in Robert Harmon's short movie CHINA LAKE (1983) available on the UK Momentum DVD edition of THE HITCHER.

'tho wee always found him never less than entertaining and always enjoyable,

we most fondly recall Mr. Napier's strong supporting shoulder to Rod Taylor's
modern-day 'detection' agency big grin in this lamentably-hardly seen late '80s series:
