Saw this movie yesterday, and was blown away. Part social drama, part thriller, with an outstanding cast, brillantly lead by the amazing Jennifer Lawrence. Tough, sweet and not to play with. I also liked John Hawkes very much, the great cinematography. A powerful, thoughtful film which leaves you thinking a lot about it afterwards.

Great film, worth watching!

It's been on my too-see-list for some time now. Thanks for the motivation.

Yep. One of the best films of last year.

You could always try reading the book first.

Until today, I didn't realize that a soundtrack had been issued for WINTER'S BONE. (It came out about 4 months after the film had gone into general release.) It's actually two soundtracks. One has the Ozark songs, primarily sung by vocalist Marideth Sisco, backed by various instrumentalists. The other release has the fiddle-infused instrumental score by Dickon Hinchliffe. Unfortunately, only the song score is on CD. The instrumental score is a download only. Samples of the instrumental score are here:

Here are two of the songs from the song score:

And here is the main instrumental cut from the score, which also appears on the song CD:
