Why are there no threads about this cool action comedy?

The story is pretty straightforward....a bunch of ex-agents are being targeted for kill, but assemble to kick covert government ass. But I loved the tone of it. It's not afraid to take things one step further, at parts serious, parts comedy. It's DARK comedy, in a way....or slightly SKEWED comedy, like the OCEAN'S 11 films.

Usually when so many big stars convene, they cancel each other out. But here it works. It just seems like they all have a bloody good time - Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, Morgan Freeman, Karl Urban, Brian Cox, Richard Dreyfus....even good ol' Ernest Borgnine at 93. Good chemistry all around.

Beck's score is very cool too - classic retro funk. Certainly something I would loved to have on a soundtrack, but I'm not sure there is one?

Thanks for the response. I wonder why there is apparently zero interest in this. It should be right up most people's alleys here....it's star-studded, it's a genre film, it's mainstream (but with an edge).

personally, I loved it! and apparently so did a lot of other people because Summit has commissioned the original screen writers to pen a sequel. while a sequel isn't official at this point, it's still exciting to hear that Summit might want to revisit the RED world :-)

I saw the film yesterday. Only so-so, but fun to see all the "old school" actors in one place.

I don't remember a second of the film that didn't have music in it. What the heck? Beck's 1970s-based funk-rock score got a bit annoying at times, but at least it was different and didn't have a noisy orchestra.
