I know that alot of people love this score and on the face of it, the constructs are just as powerful now as they were in 1990. Personally, I do like Batman better but I'm comparing apples and oranges. I only listen to it once in a while, because to be honest, there's only so much strings, harp, ethereal choir, and celesta I can stand in one hearing. But other than that, it's a good score (especially the Grand Finale cue).

it's the one that got me into filmmusic in the first place, like you I rarely listen to it, but once I listen to it I can't stop. his 2nd favorite score of mine right behind the excellent "Sommersby".

love the assault of low brass for "the cookie factory" cue, always makes me smile

This is my favorite Elfman score. It is one of the most gorgeous pieces of music I've ever heard, and I never tire of it. And to think that 20th Century Fox originally disliked the score!

Ever since the Elfman/Burton box was aunnonced this fall, I've been forcing myself to not listen to it - I can't wait for February!

Funny you should say that as I'm just listening to it now. One of my favourite scores of all time and one of the three main analyses I did in my master thesis 6 years ago (which, curiously, did NOT kill my passion for it!).

due to the fact that I read this thread earlier this morning, i hauled out the cd and listened to it on the way to work. Found it lovely, betwitching, and just the right sound for the odd-ball fairytale that is Edward's story. I remember now why I cried at the end. That music just pushed me over the edge.

As good now as it was then. Absolutely gorgeous music.

Is a new Edward Scissorhands release coming up? D2 mastering lists the release under their 2014 soundtrack releases on the client section of their page. They've been reliable in the past...

That's great news. In my opinion, one of the top five scores he's ever done.

In hindsight it's incredible that score didn't get nominated for an Oscar, but I guess it's in pretty good company. Still one of my all time favorite scores and I'm not what you would consider to be a hardcore Elfman fan. Still lamenting that I missed out on getting one of those full manuscripts of the score a couple years back....sure hope Universal lets them do another batch of those one day.

With the upcoming 4K Blu ray remaster I wonder if the reissue of this magnificent score is on any labels radar ? Because I do remember reading above that a re-issue was in the cards post The Elfman-Burton Box set. [ So can we look up to LLL?]

Re-issue? Is the existing version getting hard to find?

I dunno Thor, but the expanded album from the Box set had a better source and mastering. Its a perrenial score so it deserves a re-issue with liner notes by Jeff Bond( of course ). The 25th Anniversary makes a good timing for it.

A Black Friday announcement by LLL would be just fantastic!

Edwdard Scissorhand is a wonderful score, among my favorites.

It is, however, one of a handful of my "Christmas scores" (others are, for example, John Williams' Hook). I only listen in the winter months around Christmas time to these scores. They do have something "Christmassy" about them.

I agree, but curiously only a small portion of the action takes place at Christmas. Must be something with the celeste and other fairytale orchestration, as well as the monochrome look of the castle sequences.

Considering this wasn't part of LLL's Black Friday batch, who is gonna release this one?
Intrada perhaps?

I wonder if this is that sixth release that didn't get approved on time.

Still one of my favourite scores ever. So gorgeous. The original album is superbly arranged for a listening experience, but this score demands a complete release [I never got the Burton box so can't remember if Edward Scissorhands was expanded on it or not]
