I heard this DIRECTLY from Frizzell, so unless something has changed, I believe it's coming. I have NO idea when or by whom though. BTW John's a SUPER nice guy!

Wow; that's awesome. Do you happen to know if it's just got a few more minutes tacked onto it or if it is the *complete* score?

Sounds great to me! I just revisited the score and really, really enjoy both composer's work on the CD.
How much is missing? I suppose, La La is doing it.
No; I emailed La La and they said they're not doing it. They don't know who's doing it either.
Actually quite a bit is missing. If you have a movie that's 3+ hours long, and you only release 45-50 minutes of the score, there's got to be TONS AND TONS missing. I really hope it's a complete release, including whatever stuff Edelman wrote that didn't make the release.
If Frizzell wrote music for the 6.5-hour long Director's Cut then that would be three or four CDs of music from that cut alone, not to mention alternates, unused cues, etc. etc. etc. But I suppose I'm dreaming here

Edelman's stuff is really refreshing, especially after Gettysburg. While that film has a good theme, the score is not nearly as cohesive as Gods and Generals is. I wish more modern film music was written as cohesively and skillfully as this was. Too bad a lot of stuff coming out nowadays is churned out Media Ventures-sound, IMO.
I've heard that somebody's working on, supposedly, a complete or expanded version of "Gods and Generals" by John Frizzell and Randy Edelman.
1) Does anybody know anything about this? 2) If not, does anybody know how I can find out concrete info about it?
I would also like to know a bit more. What's the label? Will it be limited or be some expensive collector's item? Will it come in some fancy case or just a normal CD case? When does it come out? etc.
Mainly, so many questions because it's a great score!
Does anybody have any updates for this? With the Director's Cut of the film coming out in late May, I'd hope somebody would release the expanded score also (though I understand score releases are not tied to film releases).
I got the OST for this a few years ago (used from Amazon) and I really enjoy it. I'd buy an expansion.
On the other hand, Frizzell seems to be getting out all his major scores except Dante's Peak, which Varese owns. I really, really want an expansion of that too.
Frizzell says there's enough material for TWO MORE CDS:
"JF: There is enough for two more CD’s. I would really like to see at least one more CD come out. I think at this point it is up to the fans to ask the label to do it. That will probably get a response."
Probably wrong, but I read an interview that the composers' left off the real hardcore action stuff, save for one cue, and focused on the melodic bits - so this will be a cool expansion if so!

Which they did. There's a lot of less-melodic action music that was left of the disc. Just because it's not as melodic doesn't mean it's bad, though.
And I canNOT figure out where "No Photographs" comes from. It is not in the film, but it's such a wonderful piece.
