I'm really curious to know what people will think about this release. It is, of course, a landmark recording and anybody interested in Golden Age music should catch it - if only for the reason that (unless a miracle happens) this will be the only Anton Profes release we are going to see. After having heard it - it's definitely worth more than one listen
It's a real shame that Bear Family stopped that series. The composer entirely missing on both vinyl and CD is Johannes Fehring. He mostly scored light comedies in the 1950s and 1960s - and also re-used his themes many, many times. A release of one score would thus cover not only this particular title but would be pretty representative for most of his output...
This is indeed a landmark recording. I`ve been playing it nonstop for several days now. I`m not quite sure how much of the complete score is missing but all the major cues from the movie are included. The performance and the recording are first rate and the fact that scoring stage is the same on which the original recording took place is truly the icing on the cake. IMHO this is THE golden age release of the year.
A reminder that, provided you are willing to sign up with Spotify with your facebook account or email address, you can listen to the full album for free (with occasional ads between tracks).
And note that the digital version is just three tracks - one per movie suite.
