Well, the movie looks absolutely idiotice. "NASA sent a message into space farther than we ever thought possible"? What does that even mean? "Don't look up"? Why the hell not? If you can't see them they can't see you?

That said, any chance for Tyler to spread his wings on something other than endless action movies and thrillers is welcome. Maybe the science fiction genre will give him a chance to do something a bit different.

I was about to post the trailer for this, as I was surprised no one had mentioned it before (it being such a fan film and everything). I think it looks awesome. A little bit of INDEPENDENCE DAY, a little bit of WAR OF THE WORLDS.

I didn't know Tyler was the composer, though. Kinda indifferent to that, to be honest, as I've never really connected to his music.

But looking forward to the film!

(incidentally, Skyline is the name of an 80's disco in my small hometown....so a bit funny associations there).

Does FSM-online, as the paper magazine did, give the "upcoming projects" thing, with the name of the movies and the composer attached to ?

EDIT: ok, I found the answer. It's called "Assignments".

Brian is actually one of the executive producers of the film.

IMDB still says that he's also scoring it.

I hope Brian Tyler is still scoring it. He is only one of a few that I actually look forward to a new score these days.

Brian isn't scoring this film due to schedule conflict. He told me when I interviewed him last week. I was also looking out for this score. But we still have Battle: Los Angeles which is going to be cool and Fast Five! And music for 3 VG Lego Universe, Far Cry and True Crime.

As he's executive producer and may have a word to say on it, did he tell you who's scoring it or is there no composer attached yet ?

Merci !

Exec. producing, but not scoring? That's gotta be awkward.

Any idea who his replacement is?

He's a busy man.

I was about to say something about him composing "Battle: Los Angeles." But I see it was already mentioned. Going to be interesting how he makes two very similar premises sound different.

I don't know whose is going to score it, but after viewing the trailer The idea seems very much like Nigel Kneale's final QUARTERMASS story that was a BBC production back in 1979.

Based on just the trailer, it would appear to share some elements.

The following is taken from the IDMB:

"After the mysterious destruction of the new space station, young people find themselves drawn to a stone circle in England, and other locations around Earth. They believe they'll be taken to a better place by a higher power. Only Professor Quatermass realizes that the young people are being tricked by an alien power, who wants to "harvest" humanity. It's up to Quatermass to find a way to stop the deadly plans of the aliens"

I could be wrong, I guess we'll know when the film opens.

Composer of the film is Matthew Margeson.

Score executive producer being Brian Tyler.

So you're all wondering "who the hell is that ??", but it's no surprise as Tyler put someone he trusts on it...

Margeson is from Remote Control, former assistant to Klaus Badelt (on Constantine, where he first met Tyler) and James Dooley (2005-2008)... He did additional music & arrangements on several films in the past 2 years (Angels & Demons, Transformers 2, Kick-Ass, Henri 4, Monsters VS Aliens, Beverly Hills Chihuahua etc.).

He first started working with Brian Tyler on Dragonball Evolution, then did additional music on The Expendables.

Of course, Skyline is his first big gig, a way to make a name !

The score is not completed as we speak, and there should be an OST...
