Nope, it's not some bizarre YouTube video. Not sure if it's been posted here before (hey, I'm a newcomer), but I came across this a while ago and lost the link, but managed to finally hunt it down again (as a semi-obsessive J3D fan). It's weird, but utterly Hollywood - at least the bad side.

The song itself is surreal, much like Shaun Cassidy's vocal version of 'Ilia's Theme'. But check it,, although somehow I doubt it'll be appearing on a future expanded edition of the score.

That.is.amazing. As horrible as Jaws 4 is, I must say that if that song had been in the film/credits then Jaws 3 would surely have taken the cake as the worst.

Thank you for helping me start the day off with a good laugh!

I would agree with you gents... but ONLY to the extent that it would have seemed very incongruous, perhaps even inappropriate, for the song to appear in a shark movie (but no more so than having that gorgeous Alan Parker melody already in the movie in the first place!). Otherwise, it would have made a great vehicle for Streisand. This kind of material was right up her alley at the time (and still is). It's not such an unusual thing for a piece of work to be taken out of it's original context and become accepted and successful on it's own merits. "The Morning After" springs to mind as an example, and "The Poseidon Adventure" wasn't exactly the cuddly, feel-good movie of the year.

Barbra, polish up some of the lyrics and get it out there and see what happens. Oh, and for the sake of ambiguity and universal appeal, make the title less species-specific!

Anyway, it's all moot if this Thompson guy was just "taking the piss". I take it with a house-sized grain of salt.

big grin

Oh, I could definitely hear Barbra sing this (with better lyrics) and the main melody (musically) is gorgeous-- but like you said, the fact that it's coming from Jaws....3.... is what makes it so wtf.

LOL

As I listened intently to the intensity of the singer, I found that by closing my eyes I was magically transported to a high school talent show. And even though I'm 48 years old, my first thought was, "Oh sh*t, I didn't finish my math homework!".

That's so clearly a joke as I've ever seen one. I can't believe that some of you were fooled into believing this was a real thing.

Incidentally, I never cared much for Parker's score, nor this theme. But I do own the soundtrack.

Come on - shark movies and songs DO mix. Do I need to introduce "Hollywood Big Time" from THE LAST JAWS (aka L'ULTIMO SQUALO aka GREAT WHITE in its rescored, American version).

Having rewatched them both recently, Jaws 3D is an angry, 35-foot mother shark head-and-tail above Jaws: The Revenge. Jaws 3D is very very silly, but it's not boring, unlike The Revenge.

I've got to say (and I know I'm in a minority of one, here), Jaws 4 is not too bad if you've had a lot to drink. ("A lot" is defined here by how much hooch you'd need to drink to sit through the whole movie.)

The song is actually quite good but the singer is awful , I do like Parkers music for Part 3 ..

Jaws 4 is pretty bad it starts off ok but then becomes dross, Michael Caine has actually stated he only did this movie to pay for a new house ... The only saving grace is Michael Smalls score ..

Michael Caine has actually stated he only did this movie to pay for a new house ...

Caine: "I've never seen it, but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific."

Thanks to Intrada - a perfect time to resurrect this thread wink

As the original link no longer works - here's one that does at the moment:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ts7wDzFF_Y

(Anyone know hoe to use the youtube special code legend? - it's foiling me at every turn)

Find the exciting story of the song here!

https://stmedia.wordpress.com/2012/10/28/jaws-3d-the-lyrics-2/

Judging by the gender of the singer - it may need to be retitled LOVE SONG FOR 2 GAY DOLPHINS wink

I just clicked on the video for the first time, and wow! What a unique and magnificently awful song. I actually felt my earholes contract in an involuntary effort to block out the sound of the singer's voice.
