I would agree with you gents... but ONLY to the extent that it would have seemed very incongruous, perhaps even inappropriate, for the song to appear in a shark movie (but no more so than having that gorgeous Alan Parker melody already in the movie in the first place!). Otherwise, it would have made a great vehicle for Streisand. This kind of material was right up her alley at the time (and still is). It's not such an unusual thing for a piece of work to be taken out of it's original context and become accepted and successful on it's own merits. "The Morning After" springs to mind as an example, and "The Poseidon Adventure" wasn't exactly the cuddly, feel-good movie of the year. Barbra, polish up some of the lyrics and get it out there and see what happens. Oh, and for the sake of ambiguity and universal appeal, make the title less species-specific! Anyway, it's all moot if this Thompson guy was just "taking the piss". I take it with a house-sized grain of salt.

That.is.amazing. As horrible as Jaws 4 is, I must say that if that song had been in the film/credits then Jaws 3 would surely have taken the cake as the worst. Having rewatched them both recently, Jaws 3D is an angry, 35-foot mother shark head-and-tail above Jaws: The Revenge. Jaws 3D is very very silly, but it's not boring, unlike The Revenge.

Michael Caine has actually stated he only did this movie to pay for a new house ... Caine: "I've never seen it, but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific."
