It has bugged me for at least 24 years now (but not constantly) that I once saw this piece of music mentioned in an ASCAP directory and never knew what it was from. (I was looking up songs and happened to look up my name.)

I'd guess it's from a film, but I don't know for certain. I doubt it had lyrics, but I couldn't say for certain now.

Anybody recognize the title?

Yes, it was from one of the episodes of The General Electric Theater, I think.

It is from "The Stone," which was on GE Theater and released on THEMES FROM THE GENERAL ELECTRIC THEATER.

I wonder why that lp has never seen cd issue? It was reissued by Columbia Special Products in the late 70's.

Not quite in tune with you here, Preston... We do know about the old album, but my Youtube link was for a viewing of the programme itself.

To DavidinBerkeley : No lyrics, but if you watch the episode, Tony Curtis "talks" a kind of lyric while strumming his theme on a harp-like instrument.

Good news, James: if the shoe doesn't fit... Sorry I wasn't clear about this, but I was referring to somebody else's post entirely, the one wondering why the LP had never been released on CD. (I didn't think to quote it at the top of my post.)

Sheer coincidence, but is anybody else reminded of Curtis's role as Antoninus, "a singer of songs," declaiming the poem to his fellow freed slaves, over Alex North's accompaniment?
