Can't forget Lucille Watson: Ample, feisty old lady, seen in everything from THE RAZOR'S EDGE to WATCH ON THE RHINE to the MGM LITTLE WOMEN, and even Walt Disney's SONG OF THE SOUTH. That lady got around....

And Florence Bates: Putting out her cigarette in the cold cream in REBECCA Demanding Joseph Cotten's rent in PORTRAIT OF JENNIE Practically salivating over recipes she hears from Irene Dunne in I REMEMBER MAMA even an ethnic turn as a no-nonsense island woman in THE MOON AND SIXPENCE or, my favorite, allowing herself to be charmed by Gene Kelley in AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, where she says, "My husband's always so fussy about the way I smell." Wonderful.

My choice would be my all time favorite actress: Kathleen Freeman I find her body of work sublime -- she never failed in a role. And she was by all accounts, including stories from some of my best friends, a joy to work with -- generous, giving, and an absolute professional. I love her!
