At the moment, only 7 FSM posters (yours truly, Chriss, Durrance, StevenJ, Simon Morris, TomD, Jehannum) bought the double CD Zigzag/The Super Cops. So have you purchased this marvelous CD? What are your impressions? Let me know the details of your appreciation.

NP: Shotgun Blast/End Title from Oliver Nelson's Zigzag.
I really want more Nelson and Fielding titles...

I might get it eventually...but probably not. The samples made me quite on the fence for that one...

How do you know? Did you hack FSM/SAE's computers? wink

I loved the samples, and will order it, just not right now; ordering 11 older FSM releases to accompany The Omega Man did shake the orders balance & schedule somewhat.

LOL

I got my copy mainly for THE SUPER COPS, but I was really surprised by Nelson's cool, jazzy score to ZIGZAG (which I always thought was a product sold behind the counter at tobacco shops). The cue Earphones was reason enough to purchase the cd. Too bad you can't sample that one.

As for THE SUPER COPS, well, let's just say you won't be disappointed if you love Fielding as I do. It's the usual pulse-pounding, martial music sweetend at times by very 70's- styled action music.

I loved Zig Zag; actually only have heard Super Cops once. Yet Zig Zag has been played very often since got it. Superb!! Wish we had more Nelson's work.
Highly recommended to all.

For Jerry Fielding's diehard listeners, please pay attention to these tracks from The Super Cops that encapsulate his style:

Main Title (#1)
The Sniper (#2)
Blue Imperial/Bed-Stuy (#4)
Good Friends/To the Dead Child/By the Book (#7)
Down Rope--Across the Roof (#11)
Hit Men (#13)
Purse Catchers/The Hip Strip/Raid on the Hays Bros (#14)
Caucasian Lads/Pusher Chase/End of Pusher Chase (#15)
After Shoot (#17)

For some reason, I'd never heard Oliver Nelson's Zig-Zag. Well, it's great. A terrific listen, a terrific score, in terrific stereo. And you get Fielding's Super Cops with it.

As to people who are "on the fence" - well, I suppose that's one way to live life.

I have them both, but so far I've only been listening to Bell, Book & Candle which is fantastic, a great improvement over my old Vinyl.

I did give Supercops a quick spin and it's great 70's funk but a it's a little more atmospheric and interesting, than say McQ.

Read this:

Not sure what that means. Are you suggesting that too few of us have posted comments about it? I certainly do own it, I've listened to it a couple of times, it's sitting in front of me right now, and I'm not really getting why you doubt that.

I'm going through a highly "iffy" period financially, what with a son to put through college, but I intend to earmark some future income to catch up on such FSM gems as the last few Kaper things, THE GETAWAY, the ZIGZAG/SUPER COPS, and the latest FORCE 10 FROM NAVARONE disk.

One of the "happy difficulties" today is that there is SO much great music coming out that, unless you're a very well-heeled soundtrack collector who can simply buy everything you want, you end up picking and choosing carefully. For instance, do you pick up the newest John Williams score (because you're a huge Williams fan), or do you buy a classic Herrmann/Goldsmith/Bernstein score that you've waited for for years? Sometimes, it's a tough call.

I've actually maintained a "Stuff I Want to Buy Sometime" list for the last few years, on everything from CDs to books to DVDs to computer software. Each category has three sections: Most Wanted, Runners Up, and If You Could... I just looked at the CD section on the list, and all together, I've got 89 titles listed. (And that doesn't include some stuff I've put on my Amazon wishlist to "hold" it in my memory. So, if I won the lottery tomorrow, I'd actually go ahead and order almost 100 soundtracks that I want -- but like a lot of people, I can't afford all at once right now. So, you budget for what you most want, and can afford.

I got it for The Super Cops-better than I remembered. No, if only the movie were released on DVD!
