This Wednesday, on many of their affiliates, PBS is broadcasting the Houston Opera production of Rachel Portman's THE LITTLE PRINCE. Apparently, it's also being released on CD. It doesn't appear to be much longer than 90 minutes, and if it's being shown during the PBS "Pledge Week," whose interruptions are usually interminable, it may actually be shorter than that.
Has anyone here actually heard or seen it? I like Portman enough to usually get all recordings of her music. I'm curious to see what she's done with it.
I'm not a big fan of opera by any stretch, but this is a gorgeous piece of work. It has enough classic Portman-esque melodies in it to fill a dozen motion pictures. When I got it I didn't stop playing it for about 2 weeks.
If you like Portman's film stuff I would HIGHLY recommend The Little Prince! I absolutely guarantee that you won't regret it.
