So while it may not be an actual Christmas movie(I kinda think it is myself) it is still one of the best if not THE best, modern day action films ever, and one that was imitated ad nauseam but rarely, if ever, equaled in quality. Part 2 is apparently enjoyed by some as being just as good, if not better as the original, but I do beg to differ. The action scenes and blocking and the villains pale in comparison to the first one.

I didn't find it particularly different from any other action movie and certainly not "best modern day action". When I finally watched it after the hype I found it fairly standard. I am still surprised how much people go nuts for it around this time of year.
Yeah, it really fits in with the whole Jesus thing.
What does "Jesus" got to do with it?
Wow...really? Well let's see, Christmas is about Jesus' birthday, in case you didn't know. There's no "Christmas Story" (or what passes for Christmas stories) in "Die Hard", ergo the thread title is a joke or incorrectly worded. If johnjohnson is serious, I'm surprised he hasn't nominated this "greatest Christmas soundtrack": http://www1.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm/ID/16556/MACHINE-GUN-PREACHER/

For the record, the recut trailer was put out by 20th Century Fox for the 4K digital release. Along with Fox, Steven E. de Souza clearly recognises Die Hard as a Christmas film.

No one knows when "Jesus" was born. Christmas was a Pagan holiday whom the Christians latched onto and made into their own thing. Christmas is celebrated around the world by theists and non theists a like. By your standards How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer aren't Christmas stories either.
Then find another forum where talking about religion is allowed. Or go the way of others who battled against fairly sensible rules - no religion no politics - and insisted on boring us all to death with how they feel about it.

I don't have a dog in this race, but I have to ask: How can there be a discussion about any "Christmas movie" without also exploring the aspects of just how one would define "Christmas movie"?
I know it might seem to be a minor point, but wouldn't it be at least a little relevant?
