I recently created a restored edition of the Maestro conducting Verdi's THE HYMN OF THE NATIONS (as expanded by Toscanini) for a 1943 OWI short. For the first time the 35mm Library of Congress footage has been combined with the master recording for improved audio. As many know, "The Internationale" was deleted from the LOC print in the early 1950's. That footage is inserted from 16mm picture (though the audio is from the master recording). This is only the "Hymn of the Nations" portion of the film, not the entire four-reel featurette.
Special note - while this version shows the orchestra standing at the beginning of "The Star Spangled Banner" (continued from the 16mm material) it does not show them rising to their feet. That footage is on an alternate print that I need to transfer to digital. Hope to get to that this weekend.
A very spirited performance. The only one I have on recording is from the soundtrack of the 1984 Olympic film 16 DAYS OF GLORY. It's performed by Placido Domingo, The Harlow-Hatfield And Nelp Combined Choirs & The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. That version runs only 10:27. The Toscanini runs 15:13.

Yes, Domingo performed the Verdi original. Toscanini expanded it during wartime to include "The Internationale" and "The Star Spangled Banner".

It's not quite that simple. The Domingo version also ends with the Star Spangled Banner, as can be heard here:
