I'm still digging the recent release of Rain Man and to a lesser extent Thelma & Louise though it has it's moments. I'm familiar with Zimmers action adventure scores, can you suggest scores he's done for smaller films, probably in the drama/romance genre?

From that time period you've got some hidden gems like The Power of One and A World Apart (the score that turned Levinson onto Zimmer in the first place). The House of the Spirits also seems to be quite well regarded, though honestly I'm not as familiar with that one. Perhaps I should be.

Nothing beats Green Card. Regarding Henry is great too. My fav Zimmer mode.

Cool, good start, thanks for the suggestions! Believe it or not I haven't heard Driving Miss Daisy outside of the main theme.

Oooh damn I forgot about Green Card, good call jfallon. I love that score.

Throw in Pacific Heights, too! Anything Shirley Walker did with him is right at the top of his career achievements. Go Shirley!

I’ll Do Anything is good too but that soundtrack is cobbled together with just two lengthy tracks. Varèse needs to release this proper.

I'll do anything I just couldn't stand... pretty much hated that one entirely...
But... I'd add Days of Thunder.

You DEFINITELY should be.
Just jump to 1:30

Could not agree more. Maybe not like Rain Man, but Radio Flyer (and isn't this due for a re-release?) is in the same ballpark.

Also every time I see this thread title I think of the gorilla in CONGO.

I'll Do Anything features 4 tracks by Zimmer.

Fools Of Fortune and K2 have got only two tracks each.

Oh that’s right. Been awhile since I spun it. Tracks still too long.

Fools Of Fortune and K2 have got only two tracks each.

"The Whole Wide World" (1996) - Hans Zimmer and Harry Gregson-Williams (primarily HGW)

Great movie too - do yourself a solid and get around to watching it!

These were the first two scores I immediately thought of to recommend after finishing Rain Man.

I would like to add to the list "True Romance". Light and fluffy but extremely tranquil. Appears it's only available as a digital download.

Edit: Listening to Green Card on YT. Definitely the sound and feel I'm looking for. Thankfully it can be picked up used or new at a decent price.

I think Nine Months too, very under rated.

Doesn't sound much like Rain Man.
