Cronenberg's "The Dead Zone" (1983) had a heart-breaking score from Michael Kamen. I spent months haunting my local record store, only to be told that "there is no release". Now, in the '80s, if the soundtack wasn't released with the film, you were pretty much screwed, because it wasn't going to get released. Imagine my surprise when Milan released the score on CD in '96 or so, more than a decade after the film appeared. Now, the '90s were still before what is now an established industry for rescuing, and releasing, lost scores, and so, looking back, getting this score is probably my greatest (score-related) "wow" moment.
